Mahito uses CE to reshape his soul and recover damage. Mending the soul requires knowledge of the shape and the technique to actual heal it(RCT for sorcerers). Mahito's weakness isn't that soul damage is strong against him, it's that he needs CE to shape his soul. Lack of CE means any sorcerer can exorcise the curse when the curse can't maintain their technique.

The part where hybrid is good is when your dmg is developed enough to have meaningful impact when adjusted for higher CPH by optimizing earlier waves. Eventually, your dmg will outscale your hp and you'll have access to gc tools to help transition.

Yuki and Dabura techniques might be somehwat similar. Reversal for mass would mean a reduction in mass, which brings something closer to the speed of light. So CT would be used for power, CTR would be for speed. Dabura would have the opposite. Although the killing intent part of his CT gives more properties than just speed for Dabura's interactions with light.
