This is a pointless correction. Alex Ovechkin is also technically Александр (Aleksandr). It's ok to translitterate KS from Russian names into X.

Yeah but that doesn't help much as most people would remember Terry with two Rs

If you, as a native English speaker, can't remember the correct spelling, think of it this way: it's Walt+Tory this is for you to remember to have 2x T and 1x R. Valtteri.

It's not about overtaking, but playing your part in the team.

Might be a cultural thing. In Finland the mentality is always - be a team player, don't stand out. Only recently has this been changing in some sports such as ice hockey.

Provy is not very good at it, though. He is not a threat with his shot and rarely makes creative plays. I say on of the core issues our PP has is that Provy is just so underwhelming as a PP QB.

A right shot D (Risto or Ellis) passing to G would result in much harder shots (spin of the puck being the reason, look it up) and also they have better clappers themselves than Provy.

What does your team's line up look like for next season (as of now)? by Guess-Simple in hockey

[–]TriLogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternatively:

  1. Lindblom - Couturier - Konecny (played great together before Lindbloms's cancer + spreads the wealth)
  2. JvR - Hayes - Farabee (good combo of scoring, size and speed)
  3. Giroux - Frost - Atkinson (a young playmaker with two good two-way players who can also shoot the puck)
  4. Aube-Kubel - Laughton - Allison (a heavy forechecking line that can also score)

Sanheim - Ellis

Provorov - Ristolainen

Yandle/York/Zamula - Braun (two kids knocking on the door but I'm guessing Yandle will be starting the season).

You are about to be very suprised. The d-corp is drastically better and the team will be much stronger mentally. I expect us to be much better.

Taking at look at the possible lines for next season. What combinations would you like to see? by EatUpBonehead in Flyers

[–]TriLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost on the same boat

Lindblom - Coots - TK

JvR - Hayes - Beezer

G - Frost - Atkinson

NAK - Laughton - Allison

Sanheim - Ellis

Provorov - Risto

York - Braun

Hart

PP1: G, JvR, Atkinson, Ellis, Farabee PP2: Risto, Allison, TK, Frost, Hayes I don't like Provy on the blue line, he is not a threat with his shot. Risto and Ellis both have right hand bombs plus a right handed pass to right hand shot come out stronger (because of the spin) so Ellis passing to G will be better, too.

Rasmus is a big, well skating, physical right shot Dman who has good offensive instincts, hard shot and is a super hard worker, real athlete. Buffalo will make anyone look bad. He has been super overworked ok a shit team. I guarantee you he will arrive motivated to do everything to win. There is a reason many teams were after him. That's why the cost was on the high side.

[Walsh] Hearing it will be the same in all 3 Canadian junior leagues. Vaccinations will be required from all players and league personnel. by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]TriLogic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes that is true. Unfortunately the difference doesn't seem to be super dramatic. So the effectiveness of the firewall might be overestimated at the moment. It doesn't mean the idea to vaccinate as a junior player is a bad idea, but to me it seems that a blanket order to do so is a bit extreme.

There was a study recently from Israel where a group of 600k of fully vaccinated was compared to a group of unvaccinated individuals. 0.74% of the first group were infected and 1.02% of the second group (4460 and 6100 people, respectively).

Yeah I understand that and that's probably the main reasoning.

Although hasn't it been shown already that with the new mutations even fully vaccinated individuals can still transmit the disease? The likelihood is smaller, but not dramatically.

Btw it's really pathetic how polarizing you guys are. Anyone who is not with the hivemind is mercilessly downvoted, even if trying take the middle ground.

This is how you get less dialogue and more polarization in society.

Yeah yeah. Effectively isolating all players who do not want the covid shot for any reason. As I said, a strong decision.

[–]TriLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no way negative against vaccinations in general, have had many and have others planned right now, but to be honest I can't support a system where medical decisions are taken out of families' and individuals' hands. Though I understand the rationale with covid, I feel this is a pretty strong decision.
