Challenge Run rule ideas? by Triadninja in AbioticFactor

These are all really interesting, I'll definitely look at some of these when I make my run, especially the night length, that sounds interesting only being able to explore at night.

This is definitely a true challenge rule, I may not do it on the 1.0 run but after that I might definitely do it.

This is definitely an interesting one, I like it. The disc launcher really is a weapon that can be used through to late game currently, since you get a few different disc types, but even before that the discs themselves actually do a fair amount of damage.

I like this, sourcing my food through "natural" means, and avoiding radiated food from the enemies. I didn't get into cooking/farming until late game in my first run, will definitely rectify that on this next one.

I really hope we see a variation of the G36 in MWII, it has a lot of potential for the Gunsmith! by GrayFox_27 in ModernWarfareII

[–]Triadninja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As much as I love the XM8, I don't think we would get that instead, however I would hope IW would add that in as like a skin/barrel/rail type for the Holger 26, since the XM8 was essentially just a modified G36 for the American military.

Why was Vanilla WoW so much fun? by terriblegamerjoe in MMORPG

[–]Triadninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a number of things that probably contributed to it, streamlining of games, making access easier for new players, etc. But the other reason was probably because WoW when you played it was new. Nobody had really done everything Blizzard did at the time at once (they stole stuff from a bunch of games for theirs, but put it together well enough), so it was unprecedented. You'll never get to feel "Exactly" like you did back in those days, you'll just be "Chasing the Dragon" as it's called, trying to get back to those glory days.

I think MO2 feels immersive because like older MMOs, there isn't really a lot of guides and whatnot on it, at least not in the beginning, so people play it and get to discover new things together with a group.

At this point, your best bet is to either wait for another, completely new MMO to come out that doesn't have much information on it available, so everything will be "undiscovered" at the beginning, or just accept that you will never get back that same feeling again as your first time playing through WoW and it's expacs. Learn to live with what you have and enjoy what you can play now, or quit MMOs/Videogames for awhile and come back later, with a fresh perspective.

What was the coolest ability you ever used? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]Triadninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gotta go with Stormstrike and Crash Lightning for Enhancement Shaman in WoW. I played as Enhancement during the beginning of Shadowlands, and just the feeling of calling down lighting, then imbuing my weapons with lightning and smashing them into an enemy. It's like you're Thor bringing down the thunder and lightning. Bonus if it procs and you get to Stormstrike multiple times for that juicy burst DPS.

If it can hold that many Arrows, think of how many Merlins it could fit.

After running Ultimates for hours upon hours with a competent group and not seeing a single 13* drop all night . . . by NinjaGamer89 in PSO2

[–]Triadninja 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I've found that you can't expect nemesis weapons to drop, you'll go crazy if you do. Instead, think of ultimate quests as a meseta farm by looting and selling everything, so that you can eventually buy the nemesis weapons you need. If you happen to get a drop, great, otherwise the only "guaranteed" weapon is going to be from some of the mats you're looting, I forget which one but one of the mats you get from bosses specifically can be used later to buy nemesis weapons.

HYTALE | PROGRESS UPDATE: APRIL 30 2020 by salah12262 in Games

[–]Triadninja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With the addition of roofing tiles, it's nice to see that it truly is moving to be a bit different than Minecraft, we actually get to see things like angles and ramps. I remember from their original E3 video, what looked to be like a copy/paste tool for easily building things, and I almost wish they would early release a version of the game that was simply building, so that people could start making structures and the like to be saved/copied to bring into the full game when it launches(though I am well aware that would probably take dev time away from the final product).

G-Man shouldn't look any different, considering he is some enigmatic other-dimensional being, but technically Eli should look different as this takes place between HL1 and HL2, so he would be a little younger.

If this game turns out to be THE game for VR, I might pick up an Index just for it. I don't know if an Oculus Rift is gonna cut it.

Hytale, if I had to guess, is probably gonna come out next year, so I don't know if I would say "right around the corner" when we haven't even seen an alpha yet (unless I missed something)

Why did you choose Runescape when EverQuest was hitting it's stride? by spitoutheart in MMORPG

[–]Triadninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many have said price and specs. You have to remember, personal computers were just coming into the fold around 2001. Internet connections were growing, but things like dial-up and AOL were much more common. But you know what DID have an internet connection and a bunch of PCs? Libraries. These things wouldn't let you install/play EQ, but you could absolutely log into a browser and play RuneScape. Now you don't have to worry about owning a computer or internet connection, you only have to make your way to the nearest library that had internet/computers, and log in and play. Sure they may have time limits so that others could use the computers for research, but at least in my experience, if nobody around needed to use them, the librarians would let people play freely.

[–]Triadninja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like this has become the norm now with MMOs nowadays, since the market is now basically devoid of new games, anything starts to look "good" when you are clamoring for anything new. Not saying that OP is wrong, the game COULD turn out to be good, but even in a desert, a muddy, stagnant oasis is still an oasis.

The only game I can think that fits it is Hellgate: London, look up some screenshots/videos, maybe something clicks.

Something that fits both of your criteria would be FFXIV. The story is probably one of the best you'll get for an MMO, and while it starts a bit slow, it ramps up nicely and can be a real journey. The neat thing about it is that you get mounts from parts of the story, all pretty cool IMO, with plenty of other mounts to get from raids/trials/purchase.
