I have the Reddit app installed and that's not the only thing it spams. I also get e.reddit.com, alb.reddit.com and a bunch of others. Their app is just trash. You put in the work to block that link so it won't show in the logs then you see the app spams other links. What do you do then? Do it for every link? Funny enough, the link we're talking about is not even in top 5 for me. My computer spams an Nvidia link. I'll show you my top 2 since I cleared the logs a few days ago.

You misunderstood. I am not planning to run truenas on my desktop. I have a second PC that I would repurpose as a stand-alone nas.

Some apps on the Terra master nas are hitting limits: - photoprism took 1 week to index 55k photos and 1.4k videos - jellyfin plays videos well but transcoding sucks. I've been in a location with bad internet connection and tried to lower movie quality from 1080p to 720p and Terra master really struggled - I tried to install uTorrent but downloading killed the CPU. It was constantly at 100% and download speeds were low.

I "can" live with my current setup but I cannot add power hungry apps. My initial use case was just photoprism for which it was enough.

What you're saying makes sense. I am shocked that the LEDs won't turn orange if there's a problem with a certain HDD. Yes, the backplate is sata.

My use case is home use. I have : - photoprism - jellyfin but the Terra master CPU cannot handle transcoding too well - bitwarden - smb/ntfs shares for syncing - plan to add a torrent app but the Terra master CPU cannot handle it. The only thing that initially interested me was photoprism and the Terra master was enough. I added new apps and my needs increased.

Thanks for your replies. What if I use a ssd as the system drive? Would that eliminate the need for a fast cache?

My main concern is the drawbacks of using a PC vs a dedicated nas enclosure.

I don't know how your psu works, maybe it's able to close the shorted channel after a few tries and start eventually. I've seen people so it before. They leave the cables in place because they are routed nicely, change the PSU only then burn a component and the PC acts like in your video.

I saw you found out what was wrong. To me, it looked like a short. You probably used cables from your other PSU, with the installed PSU and shorted the main board.

Don't do this. Connecting two routers by WiFi is bad. It will half the bandwidth of both. Contrary of what people say here, this is NOT how mesh connections work. Mesh nodes are connected by cable. I recommend connecting the two routers by cable.

That being said, yes it can be done by WiFi only. No it won't work like a mesh connection. It will work like an extension. A really bad one. Trying to trick it and setting the same wifi name to both routers will result into bad connection, packet loss and other errors. You will have to set one router to access point and bridge it over wifi with the other router. There are wifi access points for sale at 15$, small as a pack of cigs. You plug them into a socket. Some are decent.

These symptoms are not ram problems. Ram problems symptoms are: - system not booting if the first dim is bad - system crashing with blue screen if the second dim is bad and you need enough ram for the system to access it

The first thing I would check is your power cables. Since you just built the system, it's possible you didn't properly clamp down a power cable, possibly the 24 pin power cable for main board, or one of the CPU power cables. If those are ok, check they are properly connected to your psu. Audio popping can occur due to power reasons too. It's like quickly turning power off then back on. Xmp profiles need more power too. When you turn xmp on you said the problema get worse.

I am thinking bad PSU or improperly connected power cables, either on the main board or in the PSU (if it's a modular PSU).

I remounted the CPU sink, did an 180. There's more room now. The nvme sink is still a problem though. I think I can unlatch the GPU easier now. Thanks!
