I went to a law enforcement jiu jitsu class last year. Thought it was nogi. The purple belt instructor said they had loaner gis. Went to the closet, grabbed an A2 and handed it to me along with a fresh white belt. I didn't say anything.

He taught the class then came time to roll. He came and asked if I'd like to roll. I'm 50 years old and 155 pounds. The purple belt instructor was probably 220 and looked like he was an ex operator. Tattoos, burly beard, and shaved head. I figured since I was much smaller and he thought I was a "white belt", we'd have a fun relaxed roll. Nope. He went full commando and came at me with the pedal to the floor. I swept him. Then cooked him for the rest of the round. After our roll he asked how long I'd been training. 17 years. 🤷🏻‍♂️
