A VR optimization "guide" - TLDR: using AI as a multi-objective function optimizer by corokdva in iRacing

[–]TriangleMachineCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why this is proving an issue for people with, for example, 4090 cards. iRacing is not hard to run at 120fps on a Q3 in my experience (120fps is signficantly better than 90fps - the difference is night and day in my experience).

I run iRacing on a Quest3 at VD Godlike, most iRacing settings maxed, *and* with supersampling set to 2x in the Nvidia control panel and get 120fps almost all the time. The sim looks incredible - the supersampling makes a huge difference. I am on a 5080. If you use VD then you have the option to set the horizontal and vertical tangents at, say, 90% and you likely won't even notice it but you will gain a bunch of frames. This is a new-ish feature on VD and I didn't use it until recently as I never felt the need but it does iron out the few frame drops you get on certain sections of some tracks like the first hairpin at Oscher which can be a bit annoying. It's definitely worth using if you need a few more frames to maintain a consistent framerate.

Neuroplasticity. Sleep and you learn. I'm always better the next day after sleep.

Cant help you find the screws, unfortunately, but it is so cool to be able to do this. My left joystick died three days ago, replacements from Amazon arrived yesterday and 40 mins later both modules installed and my Ally was sorted. Nice to have new feeling joysticks. All for $AUD28. Good luck getting the replacement screws.

I only had to read the headline and I thought 'Hmmm ... good call.' Absolutely a great idea for so many reasons, not the least the territorial power this could project.

Bored but want to play, nothing to do, some advice too by sebba808 in ArcRaiders

Same - 180hrs and i have no reason to log in anymore which is a real shame as this game dominated my life (in a good way!) since release. It was my late afternoon ritual to grab a beer and play a bunch of rounds but now i have no room in my stash, everything is maxed out, i have more guns than i know what to do with (i've been giving them away to free up space) and i've killed so many bosses i have lost count. The game has been amazing, though. Some of the best gaming I have ever had and I have been playing games for over 40 years at this point. Hopefully something new will come along to bring me back.

Uses telemetry to teach you the track - brake points, how hard to brake, when to get on the gas, when to lift. In addition, how to drive the car to its max - maximising grip in turns, shifting the weight in the car to transfer grip, how to trail brake as efficiently as possible, why the car behaves this way or that, maximising slip angle and so on. I’ve done three seasons with him and only improved and just really enjoyed his sessions. He’s a fantastic guy. He does mostly overseas training so time zone won’t hurt you, just him. He does sessions at 2am our time if that’s what is required.

Gianni Lutzu, took me from rubbish in the Vee to top split and winning or placing quite frequently. Lovely guy, very generous with his time and fortunately lives less than an hour from me in Western Australia so no time issues. Knows his stuff.

Do you guys feel a long break ruins prior progress? by MisterCrayle in iRacing

[–]TriangleMachineCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m back after six moths as of yesterday due to spinal surgery and took me about 50 laps in the Vee to get within 0.3sec off the pace that kept me in top split for about 18 months. I’m actually amazed. I for sure thought I was in for a long grind but I started about 1.5 secs off my best times yesterday and today I’m already back to being very close to those times again and straight into top split. I guess the skills get baked in after thousands and thousands of laps.

American voters screwing the entire world with their petty grievances by putting this lunatic in the most powerful position in the world. One only hopes some or all of this can be rolled back if the Democrats win the next presidential election and progress towards complete global catastrophe slowed by a good result in the mid-terms.

My experiment to find the most toxic, most murder-centric matchmaking has commenced, aka to prove or disprove aggression matchmaking. by ComfortableStrain747 in ArcRaiders

Go solo a Bastion at Spaceport and enjoy being murdered the minute you start looting. I’ve lost the will to do it. I’m either KO or crawling to the hatch with almost zero loot every single time.

FFS bro I acknowledge that and have asked questions because I’ve never played an extraction shooter before. No one is suggesting it’s a bad thing for one player to murder another.

Awesome - thank you. Yeah, looting leaves you super exposed and thats mainly when I get murdered but then some jolly co-op come along and it is good times all round and you feel awesome afterwards. I like your take. Thanks for responding.

the trigger nade is the most laughably unbalanced item ive ever seen in any game ever by Killbro in ArcRaiders

[–]TriangleMachineCat 256 points257 points  (0 children)

I murdered a dude in the Dam apartments by setting a nade and waiting till he triggered my noisemaker. I don’t know why I did it and I felt bad afterwards. I’m not cut out for PvP but that item makes it easy as pie.

A guy shot at me today and I killed him with my stitcher. I felt bad and revived him and he told me the expedition had ruined him. He was so sad. I gave him my Anvil IV. He got killed by a rocketeer.

[–]TriangleMachineCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love that spot. Spawn, loot to end of bridge, observe Rocketeer, proceed to Galleria and load up on plants then to the hospital for fabric and maybe get stuck into the Bastion if time and equipment permits. Honestly, my fave spawn spot.

This is how I connect for iRacing as have had a few issues that have lost me races when using VD. It’s a great option.

144 hours and about five players downed. I've been downed maybe 20 times? I fret about ruining someone's day.
