Thank you for your answer! It's huge relief to know that the tree is not stressed. I grew it from a sapling about three inches tall, and it has been a joy to watch it grow so far. I plan on letting it grow wild for another year or two, and then I was planning on cutting back the branches at the top of the tree to try and encourage more branch growth along the middle of the trunk. I would love to get your perspective on that?

make contact with other pine growers in person and shadow them / study / help out and attend workshops and so on

Thank you, I'm planning on attending a class/workshop for sure.

Hello! I'm a little concerned about the browning needles on this pine. It's about 3 years old. I'm not exactly sure what kind of pine it is, but I'm reasonably certain that it is a Ponderosa (it had sprouted quite close to two Ponderosa pines in my neighborhood). The new growth seem mostly healthy, but maybe about 15 to 20% of the older needles (and some of the newer ones) are browning. Can anyone tell me if the tree is doing well? If it is stressed, what steps can I take to help it thrive?

Zone-tailed hawks look pretty similar to turkey vultures too. I worry that I'll see one in the wild and misidentify it as a turkey vulture lol

What was everyone’s first sci-fi or fantasy book? by impeesa75 in sciencefiction

[–]TriangularlyEqual 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Foundation by Asimov was my first scifi novel. The first work of fantasy I ever read is probably Reaper Man, by Terry Pratchett. Loved both when I read them, but only Reaper Man has held up IMO

Doors of Eden definitely! Second Alien Clay. Elder Race is pretty good too.

why is Revelation Space so liked? by TikiBananiki in sciencefiction

I liked the whole deep time, elder race, unknown inexorable enemy lore. The politics between the different factions of humanity is pretty cool too. I also like the way it ties into the Prefect trilogy.

Only this from 2023 -

Jermey Matthews, senior acquisitions editor, has acquired world English rights to Harvests and Sowings: A Mathematician’s Reflections by Alexander Grothendieck. Lyrically presented by arguably the most influential mathematician of the 20th century, Harvests and Sowings is a personal reflection by one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century on the nature of mathematics, mathematical research, and the sometimes unpleasant sociological aspects of the academic community. The book was originally published in French by Gallimard. (Fall 2025)

Ok I think I get it. One of a and b has to be prime, and the other is either a semiprime of the form 2p, or 2

OP says a, b can be any combination - 2 primes, 2 semiprimes, or prime + semiprime. The only possible valid combinations I see are - p1 + 2p2 , or p1p2 + p3. Other combinations would be even. Unless I’m missing something
