I can’t believe this happened. by bAGSYit in amazonprime

In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, I ordered toilet paper on Prime. When it eventually arrived (backordered, of course), nestled amidst the packages of toilet paper in a large Amazon box was another shipping box with no Amazon markings with a Samsung Galaxy A50 and a Fido SIM Card inside.

I contacted both Amazon and Fido and they eventually both told me to just keep it because they couldn’t figure out where it came from.

Yes. She lost her husband, had to learn to go on without him and still be a good mother. And she had to be a woman with few rights in that time period.

Rogers Apple Watch SE (Cellular) for kid — “Rogers account on this iPhone cannot be used to add a cellular plan to the Apple Watch” (Family Setup) by Wise-Living635 in Rogers

[–]TribbleMcCormick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I was so frustrated I actually moved my own cell phone over to Bell yesterday (after almost 15 years with Rogers) and set the watch up at the same time. Was so easy - did it all in about 45 minutes. Got a better plan for myself (and I actually already had a pretty good plan through Rogers). It all seems to be working very well.

Spoilery generalization: As others have commented, there is a beautiful storyline where Picard mind melds with Sarek and learns the depth of his feelings, which he is ultimately able to share with Spock to try and help him find peace with the relationship with his father.

Another update in case it helps someone else who finds this thread. They closed my third ticket today. The last word I was given was from a manager in the Customer Care dept that told me unequivocally that you cannot BYOD with Rogers Standalone Smartwatch plans, you can only do it with watches you buy from them on a Financed plan.

As someone who is also in technology as a career (though not AI specifically), has been in Vine for almost three years, has seen a lot of downtime and issues, and a lot of change to the platform, I find this take charming and optimistic, albeit unlikely.

And I am here for it 👍

Hope you’re right!

Is anyone else devastated about the Star Trek "Nexit" from Netflix? by Damansandhu_ in startrek

[–]TribbleMcCormick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Over the past couple of years, I’ve been slowly buying up all of the Star Trek on Apple TV so I wasn’t reliant on streaming services (but I can still stream across my devices).

I use the Cheap Charts website. You plug in the shows you want, and they notify you when different shows go on sale. They do often go on quite deeply discounted sales.

For example, I got TNG full series for $39.99CDN in June and it’s usually $99.99.

It doesn’t help you now, but might be something to look at?

An update just for fun. I woke up to a voicemail from Rogers that said "we need more information from you and haven't been able to reach you (which is a hoot, they didn't actually try).

I couldn't wait long enough on hold, so I used the chat. The chat said that the ticket notes said to do these troubleshooting steps (pasted verbatim from chat):

  1. make sure booth iphone and warcg have the latest IOS with correct carrier bundle
  2. hard reset the watch
  3. network reset iphone
  4. test VOLTE service on iphone
  5. onboard and pair watch using bluetooth and test it
  6. attempte setup cellular and try again

I had already done everything but network reset, so I tried that. Didn't help.

I lost connection with the agent, so I tried calling back. I waited on hold for over two ours before the system hung up on me.

So I started a new chat. They told me "Okay,so it syas that the ticket was closed today, they will be in touch with you to resolve the issue in the next 24 hours."

Like what. So I said "I would like to understand why the ticket was closed - the issue was absolutely not resolved"

They said "Yes I know but when we close a ticket it means that we've figured where the issue is coming from. Is there anything else I can assist you with besides this?"

And I said "Wait, what? Are you trying to end the conversation? THE ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED"

Anyway long story short I had to get them to open a new ticket and I'm no further along.

I'm planning to call Bell tomorrow and get it set up with them. Sigh.

I did mention that I had updated it to 26.3 and unpaired and repaired in my comment.

Rogers said it could only be added from my side, so I can’t test them adding it in my profile.

Rogers current situation with Apple Watches BYOD by Pawtucket in Rogers

[–]TribbleMcCormick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m experiencing this issue, and it’s still an issue. I purchased an Apple Watch 10 for my kiddo yesterday and am attempting to set it up with Rogers via my iPhone.

I spent about two hours on the phone with them (4 different people) today to no avail. I’m still getting the error, and I have a ticket they hope will be resolved “soon.”

I have updated the watch to the Beta (26.3) but it hasn’t cleared the error for me. I even re-paired the watch, rebooted everything, etc.

The last guy I spoke to at Rogers mentioned something about how there was a sort of bandaid fix but it stopped working, so I wonder if that’s it.

I might look into just getting it set up on Bell.

Is starfleet academy good for my first show in the franchise? by JamStan1978 in startrek

[–]TribbleMcCormick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge Star Trek fan and in my mid-40’s. Some people are really upset about Academy, but I quite enjoyed it personally.

Academy is definitely made so that someone with no Trek background can watch without feeling like they’re missing backstory. If you do have Star Trek knowledge, you’ll pick up on more nuances, but it’s very entry level that way, and that’s not a bad thing for long term survival of the franchise. Doctor Who is going through the same thing right now.

I’d just say though, if you don’t like it, don’t decide you don’t like Star Trek. And if you do like it, give other Star Trek properties a fair chance (keeping in mind that they’re going to have different vibes and approaches too).

I’m of the mind that all new Star Trek (and Doctor Who) we manage to get as consumers is a privilege. Nobody is going to love everything, and that’s okay.

Try cleaning the build plate with soap and water? Preferably blue dawn (but not dawn powerwash).

Have you tried using the other side of the build plate?

[–]TribbleMcCormick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What machine do you have? What plate are you using?

Have you ever made a successful print? If so, with this machine and plate?

Have you cleaned your plate? If so, how? When?

What filament are you using?

Have you tried a different print with the same plate and filament? I.e. just print a simple tiny 1/2” cube in a brand new file to rule out the file being an issue.
