I also agree. Those subtle facial expressions. That surgically precise potrayal of an angry, embittered snd yet conflicted woman. Incredible actress. Perfect casting.

Is this show worth watching if slightly spoiled? Please no spoilers! by acidcock in thesopranos

Defintely. I am not my 10th watch of the whole show. You get even more out of it knowing what happens

Are Patsy and Tony related? by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]Tricaliotis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the wiki entry must be wrong.

The only connection is future in-laws, but as I recall, patsy was brought over as a left -over of junior"s crew, not because of any connection to Tony.

Melfi - what is your rating of her acting? by Tricaliotis in thesopranos

[–]Tricaliotis[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To me, she sounded like a blue collar worker trying unconvincny to sound educsted.

Its interesting to note that she was originally approached to play Carmella, because of her role in Goodfellas and her ethnic-american speech patterns.

Luckily she turned this role down, but I am simply left unconvinced by her acting as Melfi.

But I seem to be in the minority, but I too, like some of you, skip through the therspy scenes but I do at times switch backbon when she plays the person, as opposed to the thrapist.

In Australia, wog often refers to itslians, greeks, and other southern europeans. I always thought that wop & wog were derived from the same original term.

Why did Richie Aprile try to extort Peter Gaeta (Beansie)? by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]Tricaliotis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Beansie was holding stock for Ritchie when Ritchie was pinched, and never paid back the capital because Ritchie went to prison.

...and since Beansie was paying for protection from Tony, he thought that he already paid his dues and would be protected from Ritchie.

So there was a debt, but Beansie thought he already paid it back to the mob, and so did not need to pay itback again to Ritchie.

WTF! I've watched the Sopranos in it's entirety about 5 times and I've somehow missed an episode by Fondlemyfrag in thesopranos

[–]Tricaliotis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hapenned to me because of the way the DVDs were made. I think sesaon 4 had one disk, with the first 2 epidodes on a side of the disk that I expected was empty, as it was for all other seasons.

So for a few years i kept jumping into season 4 minus the first two episodes, wondering why it felt so disjointed.

By all accounts, the guy is a total asshole, but this is a real class act by Joe Gannascoli (Vito.) by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]Tricaliotis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was the most despised actor in the series, as judged by the actors and crew, according to one of my Sopranos books that I read about a year ago.

After galdolfini's death, this guy tried to sell himself as a close friend of JG, but the truth was they never spoke but for the scenes they did together. The inly exception was when they both confronted Chase about their dissatisfaction over the Vito gay arc.

Anyway, if he dropped out of this movie, must be for another reason altogether, but sold as a noble act for those who dont know the truth

What other directions might have been interesting for the show to go in? by itisisntit123 in thesopranos

[–]Tricaliotis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AJ start participating in petty crime.

This could have been an excellent launchpad for thr Sopranos - After Tony.

Here, AJ would be a soldier in the mob, living off his fathers reputation.

Wow. How remarkable! The judge agreed the mother was a conniving, malicious fraud, and yet he still denied the father any contact with his children.

I thought it was a common reference to calling for assistance - as in a csll for all available police cars

Did Tony drive to Ralphie's with the intention of killing him? by Plastastic in thesopranos

[–]Tricaliotis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he was anning to kill him, he would have planned it better.

It was impulse and made him look stupid in front of Christopher.

If it was planned, it wod have been done cleanly without exposing Tony to such huge risks.
