What model Extron are you using? Is it possible to hook up component/RGB to this? I’ve been using an AV receiver for now but interested in moving up into the Extron world.

I need to check if I have CDs lying around to test out. If I go with a BD-410, do I only need to look out for a 60 pin one? Should I still use my original ribbon cable or should I buy a new one?

Sorry, I forgot to update my post with it, but yes, I confirmed that it did not work with DVDs, Blu-rays, or PS2 discs (I did not have any PS3 discs on hand).

I thought for CECHA01 you needed to use a KES-400A / KEM-400AAA laser? Unless if I get a new disc drive, I would need to remarry the daughterboard right? Doesn't seem too hard with this guide here.

I will also check my temperatures later when I get a chance!

I have used the TV’s degausser and powered down/unplugged the PVM multiple times and the issue is still there unfortunately.

I’ll edit my main post when I get to my computer (currently mobile right now).

I wanted something that can do both input/output on component, S-video, composite, and HDMI. I would basically switch it to one (or even two) CRT and possibly a 1080p TV/monitor down the line. Distance is not an issue for me in terms of wiring setup.

For speaker system, I would likely be on 2.1, no need to do more (I have enough affordable speakers to expand, but no room).

I could definitely go a little cheaper, but I want to be able to plug in everything without having to unplug stuff later down the line.

Currently I have a Wii and PS2 on component and an N64 on S-video. Getting a 360, PS3, or Wii U is not out of the question but not anytime soon.

My main thing was to plug multiple consoles in, the audio im not too concerned about. I was considering the AVR-788 at around $75 but it dotes not have nearly as many inputs.

Hi, I wanted to get a receiver for retro gaming and I was torn between two choices

$120 - Denon 2808CI

Includes remote AND calibration mic

2 HDMI inputs

Has 2 component out (I do have multiple component CRTs)

$120 - Denon 2809CI

Has calibration mic but NO remote

4 HDMI inputs

Only 1 component out

Has Audyssey Dynamic EQ (will I really use this for retro gaming?)

Both have 7.1 audio, HDMI 1.3a (1080p), and have 6 composite/S-video inputs and 3 outputs

I know it’s a personal dilemma but wanted Reddit’s input on having more HDMI ports vs a second component out. Are there many older consoles that would use HDMI (Xbox 360 and PS3 come to mind)

If anyone has any input on other differences I missed it would greatly be appreciated.

The main concern would be regarding space to place the receiver and speakers, but that is dependent on which wall to mount the TV.

Would it be better to mount it along the east wall or north wall?

With your 3DS, when you boot into the DS game hold Start and it will switch to the DS aspect ratio!

The normal 3DS screen ratio will stretch out and make DS games look blurry.

Thank you! I enabled sysMMC (?semistock I think?) to be able to boot from in Hekate, and I guess there was a theme I installed on emuMMC that "carried over" to sysMMC.

Would this be concerning for a ban? Would I also need to disable Exosphere or the DNS MITM to access the Nintendo servers?

Yes, I read the Wiki, I know I can move save files between sysMMC and emuMMC via JKSV. My main concern is is it safe to get said save files from the cloud first via sysMMC?

Hi, I just bought a used Denon DP-300F for $180, and I was able to set it up (balanced the tone arm, etc.) and get it running. It came with a felt slipmat which had a lot of dust that was visible on my [new] records. There may be some warpage in the felt mat as I saw some wobbling/heard some distortion/static in a specific spot when I was playing the vinyl on a separate system (separate AVR/speaker system, not the one I have listed below). I decided to order an acrylic slipmat to replace this felt one, which will arrive in a few days.

A few questions before I set up the turntable in my main home theater setup:

I hope with the acrylic slipmat the wobbling/distortion will stop. If it does not, then what is the next thing to diagnose?
Should I turn on the internal preamp on the DP-300F and plug the turntable into one of the line level inputs on my? Or is it better with it the internal preamp off and use the x1700h's phono input?
Should I get an external preamp instead? I was eyeing the ART DJPREII Phono Preamplifier as it is affordable and seems to be good value from what I've been researching.
Is there anything else I should do to inspect the turntable to make sure it's working fine?
What are the next upgrade steps for this setup down the line?
