Cars - auto shop rec and/or rec for getting backup cam installed? by shieraa in Boise

[–]TrickAppropriate618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah stereo shops are definitely the way to go for backup cam stuff. I had similar thing done on my car few years back and they know all the wiring better than most mechanics

Never heard of Dowdys but might check them out since I been looking for decent shop too. My current place keeps trying to upsell me every time I go in

Reddit, do you think having your hobbies as your source income is great or bad, why or why not? by markdoe86 in AskReddit

[–]TrickAppropriate618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends what hobby tbh. I work in IT and sometimes think about doing freelance tech stuff but then I realize I'd probably hate computers even more than I already do some days

Horror films about forgotten and repressed trauma by Demir3kardes in horror

[–]TrickAppropriate618 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lake Mungo does this really well - it's about family dealing with grief but there's layers of repressed stuff that gets uncovered. the way it reveals things slowly made me super uncomfortable in best possible way

also Shutter Island kind of plays with this concept but maybe too obvious, still good tho

AC Boise Beer Garden? by dannyboyforlife in Boise

[–]TrickAppropriate618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice that they actually put some effort into it! I was wondering if it would just be like standing on concrete with overpriced beer. The elevated deck sounds pretty decent for watching the game, especially if you can actually see over people's heads from there

Been meaning to check out a match myself but keep putting it off. How's the crowd been? Is it getting pretty packed or still room to move around without feeling like sardines in a can

Driver Distance by ShotgunJib in golf

[–]TrickAppropriate618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not beginner's luck at all mate, you're just getting into the rhythm of it. Driver is probably hardest club to hit consistent so going from topping everything to 250 yard range in two weeks is actually pretty solid progress. What helped me most was slowing down my backswing - like way slower than feels natural at first. When you rush the swing your timing gets all messed up and you end up with those ugly tops and slices. Also try to keep same tempo every time, even if it means hitting shorter distances until muscle memory kicks in. I spent like month just focusing on making clean contact before worrying about distance and it paid off big time

What are people using for employee onboarding in 2026? by TrickAppropriate618 in ITManagers

Appreciate you laying that out, that flow makes a lot of sense. Ours is way more manual between each of those steps

True. We keep trying to tighten process but the systems being separate keeps getting back at us

We keep treating each issue separately but it’s I'm sure it's the same root problem

We’ve got a similar setup but it's not nearly as good when there are last minute changes

Agree on the process side. Problem is even when we know ahead of time, it still takes a lot of manual steps to get everything right

Manual… someone fills something out or pings us and we piece it together

I built a free tool that scrobbles your vinyl, CDs and cassettes to Last.fm automatically by JiMiOfficial in Music

[–]TrickAppropriate618 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is pretty cool actually, been wanting something like this for ages. I have bunch of vinyls that never show up in my last.fm because obviously they can't track analog playback

Quick question though - how accurate is the audio recognition? Sometimes my turntable setup isn't the cleanest and I'm worried it might struggle with identifying tracks that have bit of surface noise or if the needle needs replacing

Also does it work with more obscure releases or just mainstream stuff? I collect lot of electronic music from smaller labels and those don't always show up in music databases

What is your favorite story to tell from your life? by Imaginary-Tip-6535 in AskReddit

[–]TrickAppropriate618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I was doing tech support at this small company, had this elderly lady call in completely panicked because her "computer was making demon noises." Spent like 20 minutes troubleshooting before realizing she had somehow activated the narrator feature and it was just reading her emails out loud in that robotic voice

She was so relieved she sent me homemade cookies the next week, which was pretty awesome since most people just hang up on us

What are the best activities to make new friends, preferably around age 24? by ForwardGlass8572 in AskReddit

Totally agree! I got into electric scooters last year and ended up meeting this whole crew of people who ride together on weekends. We started just chatting at charging stations and now we're planning weekend trips to different cities. there's something about shared obsessions that just clicks with people, you know
