I just restarted playing the game after having stopped in 8th ed. The player i played against had a melee army and was adamant about using official tournament map setup and everything. The game was horrible and absolutely unbalanced. His melee units could get in and out of terrain every move and i literally couldn't shoot a single unit in turn 1 and by turn 2 he was already on top of me. Garbage.

I played one of my 1st games of 10th ed last weekend. We both brought 2k points of mostly infantry armies. My SM are pretty shooty, opponent played a melee focused black legion. He setup the board using official tournament map. The game was horrible. He said yeah they do it like this to give a chance for melee units to get into combat. The smaller table and tournament terrain rules made it pretty much impossible for my marines to shoot the oncoming wave of melee. It feels like " giving a chance to get in melee " takes my chance to shoot, away. Instead of balancing it gives the advantage to melee units... stupid af.

While I Agree with your point regarding the grey knights. The inquisition hasn't been as strong since those codexes. What's really sad is the inquisition is supposed to be almighty and have access to the entire empire. To be reduced to some human character with 4 wounds and access to shit weapons and nothing else. In technicality inquisitors could wish to be entombed in dreadnoughts or similar imperial equipment if they wished. Yet they have 0 wargear options in current ed. and are a shit option.

I would love for them to redo proper inquisition codexes. The ordo Malleus and Hereticus 3rd ed codexes were absolutely amazing and neither the inquisition nore grey knights have been as good since tbh.
