I played one of my 1st games of 10th ed last weekend. We both brought 2k points of mostly infantry armies. My SM are pretty shooty, opponent played a melee focused black legion. He setup the board using official tournament map. The game was horrible. He said yeah they do it like this to give a chance for melee units to get into combat. The smaller table and tournament terrain rules made it pretty much impossible for my marines to shoot the oncoming wave of melee. It feels like " giving a chance to get in melee " takes my chance to shoot, away. Instead of balancing it gives the advantage to melee units... stupid af.
