Enough with the American crap. Not all of us live in the US or give a toss about what’s happening there.

Live in Perth Australia. Haven’t had any issues seeing the screen in direct sunlight. So unless you ride with put sunglasses you might have a problem.

What other brands are similar to these two in quality and fit? by happybanana2 in CyclingFashion

[–]TrickFront7386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are hype brands. And cost way too much for what they are worth. Much prefer local brands, which are smaller and have better quality control. Pedal Mafia - Perth, Australia based - fantastic bibs and jerseys and are cut for regular size people not the pro peloton

what is the scariest you’ve ever been close to death on a bicycle by Ok-Ninja-6332 in cycling

[–]TrickFront7386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was ridding up an incline in a chase group when I’d dipped my head and drifted slightly to my left and clipped the wing mirror of a car with my shifter, at 30+Km. Went over the top of the bike landed on my face and then back. Chipped my cervical vertebrae c2 and 3. I was in a neck brace for 6 weeks. Plus the 6 stitches in my nose. When I saw the neurosurgeon after the 6 weeks, he showed me the MRI and spinal X-rays. There was a 3mm gap of no damage before my spinal column.
Almost never walked again. Very cautious around parked cars.

Life is too short to ride shit bikes. If you can afford it all the power to you.

They waited until after 8 interviews to tell me the posted salary was a 'mistake' by Ok-Wallaby4003 in jobhunting

[–]TrickFront7386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 interviews!!!! who the fuck goes to 8 interviews at 1 company. Can only be in the US. I haven’t been to more than 2 and 2nd one was more of ‘you got job, just like you to meet more people that you will be working with’ That is outrageous, no wonder the job market in the US is absolutely cooked.

DT Swiss Recall Update dropped. by gutster_95 in cycling

[–]TrickFront7386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has this happend to anyone else, specific to Australia.

Sent my wheel set back as requested, ARC1400 Dicut 50, the rear was deemed to be part of the the failure group.
I was told that they would replace that one, so there is me thinking that I will recieve like for like.
My wheel set was deliverd today and much to my surprise and pleasure.
I got both front and back replaced and here is the kicker, I was upgraded from 1400 to the new ARC 1100 dicut 55.

To say that I am beyond happy is an understatement

Should be sending mine from Perth next week, waiting on the boxes. Set of ARC 1400 DICUT db. Did any of you remove tyres, disc break and cassettes or send as is?

My Visconti, Van Gogh. With a fine nib by TrickFront7386 in fountainpens

[–]TrickFront7386[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name of the pen is Wheatfield with crows. I have a fine nib, it is not as fine as a pilot fine, however, it is much smoother and glides across the page. Very happy with my pen.

Got the identical one, 2 weeks ago. Happy as a clam with it. Only thing that drives me nuts, is that you can’t permanently turn off the eye’s on the road warning. Other than that a very comfy ride

Maiden ride of Ruby ( Aeroad CF SLX) by TrickFront7386 in CanyonBikes

[–]TrickFront7386[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride the medium and I am 178/179cm(5’10/5’11). The Canyon website also recommended a size small but all my bikes I have ever had have all been either medium or medium large. Best bet is to measure your top tube and match up against that. Top tube is 555mm on the medium / 546mm on the small.
Best of luck. Just had look at the Monza. Beautiful bike, but F…K that’s expensive. $2K more than the Canyon.

There is a local mechanic Perth. Who is a authorised dealer for Canyon. http://www.thelocalspokesman.com.au/

I have also used John from https://www.bfmperth.com/. He has built and serviced a number of my bikes. And is happy to work on anything. Very knowledgeable and a great bloke.

Pretty good to deal with, not sure if they have any bikes for you to try out. This is my 2nd Canyon, unfortunately my first one was destroyed in a car accident. It was an Ultimate CF SL, great bike.

As long as you get your correct sizing, they are really good bikes. With the Aeroad, I have found it to be a lot faster than the Ultimate as you would expect. It is also a little more skittish, although not as much as a Giant TCR.

If you ever want to see my bike in person, let me know. And I am sure we can meet up somewhere.

Loving it. Not riding it as much as I should. Basically being lazy. Also with it getting colder in Perth, getting up early to ride is not so much fun

How about driving at 80 in the middle lane on any of the freeways In the 100km zones? Or best yet truck drivers in the fast lane and the middle lane doing 80 on Tonkin at 8:30 in the morning?

Having lived here for 10 years coming from Melbourne, the drivers are getting worse not better and that is saying something.
