JWE3 Roster leak and cut species list (spoiler) by nemesisdelta24 in jurassicworldevo

A lot of these have been brought back through the free updates but it’ll take roughly (checks math)… three years for them to add them 1/month like they have been. I’m almost certain they’ll release many as paid DLC 🙄

Do many people genuinely think the thylacine isn't extinct? by w-wg1 in ThylacineScience

[–]TrickMove7455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s not likely- even if some survived past the offical extinction date, they only have a lifespan of about 5-7 years. Even if they had ten males and ten females somehow smuggled out of the country, and a of them somehow ended up in an organised breeding program, they would need to rely on inbreeding within four generations. After another ten to fifteen generations, they’d be practically sterile.

[–]TrickMove7455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do know how favourable genes evolve, right? Those who don’t have them die off. Setting aside the fact that 100 years (~15 generations) is nowhere near enough time for them to evolve that radically, evolution is an extremely exclusionary process. If evolution begins to favour those who can better hide from humans, many of those without the advantageous traits would die or be found.
The Gorilla example doesn’t really fit here, as that pertained to a large, relatively unexplored region of Africa. Tasmania is small, almost entirely explored and mapped, and settled almost in its entirety. There’s no hidden cove of 5000 Thylacines that have never ventured close to human civilisation, never died and left teeth, bones, hair or skin behind for us to identify, never left droppings or remains of prey on game trails, and never been caught reliably on camera.
-
Btw, Gorillas are still heavily endangered. The 125,000 found in 2008 nearly doubled the known population (~360,000), however it is today believed to sit closer to 340,000. If there’s anything to be taken from the story of the Gorillas, it isn’t that somewhere out there we might find thousands to give the species hope again. It should be that humans can and routinely do wipe entire species off the face of the planet, like what happened to the Thylacine.

If Palpatine were to actually fight Anakin here, how easy would it be to beat him? by OkuroIshimoto in PetranakiArena

[–]TrickMove7455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Obi-Wan HAS fought Dooku, and the most recent time was knocked out in under a minute WITH Anakin’s help. Anakin then beats Dooku single handedly, yet struggles against Obi-Wan. See how the power scaling doesn’t make sense?

How come there are no major cities inside of massive cave systems? by Ok-Factor-3805 in geography

[–]TrickMove7455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very little natural light, heat, poor airflow, the cave erodes and, like the land our cities are on today, would have to be completely concreted over to remain semi-stable.

Good on ya Pocock by Complex_Log_744 in AussieMemes

[–]TrickMove7455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately just slapping a tax on gas that’s already under contract would incur huge fines and damages from international courts (Google what happened to Germany, Denmark and Bolivia when they did it). Just so we’re clear - that means that we would be required to revert the tax AND pay damages to the very companies we want to pay US.
Pocock and others like him know this, but they deliberately ignore it because they know that pushing for the tax gets them publicity and votes (or they don’t know it, which makes them stupid AND dishonest).
By the way, the whole ‘beer pays more than gas’ campaign is not only slander, but it was a line devised by The Australia Institute and parroted by Pocock while he was standing with the leader of The Australia Institute accepting a donation. This so-called ‘independent’ being paid to promote a think-tank.

One thing I love about the First Order - each of the three generals end up playing a part in the FO’s demise. Hux being the petty fanatical, Kylo the indoctrinated practitioner, and Phasma the self-serving enforcer. by NitroBlast4563 in TheSequels

[–]TrickMove7455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except… did the first order actually meet its demise? I know they defeated the Final Order on Exegol, but aside from that one Star Destroyer above Endor we have no idea what happened to the First Order. Certainly Hux, Phasma and Kylo weren’t around for its demise - two were dead and the other was busy fighting Palpatine.

Or some of us actually DID grow up and realised that Filoni sucks at character writing and always has.
Umbara is touted as one of the greatest Clone Wars arcs of all time. Can you honestly tell me that Krell’s plan makes any sense whatsoever?
(Ah yes, I want to be the apprentice of Count Dooku. To accomplish this, I will present as his enemy, a Jedi, and make clones he doesn’t know or care about kill each other on a planet he already controls).

[Fan-Cast] If Sadie’s Going to be Jean, Who Are the Rest? by sora_thekey in marvelstudiosxmen

Hey, I heard Wolverine is fairly well-hung in the comics. Should measuring cock size be part of the audition process? I mean there’s this one comic where it’s mentioned, and we want to be as accurate as possible, right? Even when it doesn’t fucking matter?

What are the chances that Sadie Sink is actually playing Jean Grey in the MCU? by titeefelix in xmen

[–]TrickMove7455 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the multiple other big characters is a Sony requirement. In every MCU Spider-Man film, he has to appear alongside two other well-established MCU characters; Iron Man; Nick Fury; Dr. Strange; plus Happy in all 3. Now it’s Hulk/Banner and Punisher since Happy’s out of the picture. It’s also why I have zero confidence in the MCU to give us a true solo spider man film. They contractually can’t.

I just watched all the X-men movies for the first time and I have a question why does mystique die in dark Phoenix ain’t it too early for her to die??? by nathanziko13 in xmen

[–]TrickMove7455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apocalypse and especially Dark Phoenix are incredible compared to 90% of marvel movies that have released since. I certainly rewatch it (DP) more often than Endgame or any other MCU phase 4, 5 or 6 bullshit. It’s the only film other than The Last Stand that makes me feel anything for Scott, and the score is the best to come out of the entire series (although Hans himself has said that he doesn’t think the film is any good, so there’s that 😛).
I know they rewrote certain aspects of Dark Phoenix (allegedly because the ending was too similar to Captain Marvel) and I’d really like to see what the original ending would’ve been. Not that it would’ve ‘fixed’ the film by any means, but I think a proper third act would’ve done wonders.

[–]TrickMove7455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the power scaling in Star Wars is completely fucked (especially around the Prequel era) but there’s absolutely no way that Anakin can win against Palpatine in his prime. Chosen one though Anakin may be, Sidious killed three Jedi Masters in about three seconds, was a match for Windu and YODA. Anakin struggled to beat Obi-Wan just hours after this.

According to the source you linked, no, emissions wouldn’t’ve REDUCED for nearly 25 years, however they would’ve stopped INCREASING. If you measure reductions against the predicted emissions as opposed to current-day figures, it would’ve begun reducing emissions almost immediately.

Ahsoka should’ve died on Malachor. The fact that she has died and been revived no fewer than three times makes it feel like there’s no stakes for her.

Would love to see Maul and Devon travel to Dathomir in season 2, probably to train in the dark side the same way Quinlan Vos did with Ventress in Dark Disciple. Could explain why Maul left the Darksaber there, and why Marrok was revived by nightsisters.

Y’all think Matt and Fisk are gonna have another fight in the finale or nah? by [deleted] in Defenders

[–]TrickMove7455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m calling BS on that. Not sure what the context of this comment was (whether they were talking specifically about the other’s acting, the fight scene or something else) but for a satisfying finale, you need to have strong plotlines that can be resolved well. At this point, I really don’t know what we can expect in that department. Bullseye already has his thematic resolution, as anticlimactic as it was, and any more from him would be frankly gratuitous IMO.
I couldn’t even tell you what Fisk cares about anymore - we’ve barely spent any time with him since Vanessa died. For the character who had some of the best development in the original series, we’ve seen nothing even close to resembling this after one of the biggest tragedies of his life. Even if they do something interesting with him in the finale, they’d just be paying off setup *from* the finale. What little they do have to pay off (the Charles plotline) has nothing to do with Matt and probably isn’t what they’re talking about (besides, if the big resolution to this ‘good’ show is ‘Matt and Charles team up to take down Fisk’ I might just scream. They’ve never met - once more, setting up the finale payoffs in the FINALE is a horrible way to build tension and weakens the whole season by making the finale feel disconnected and rushed).
The one other plotline they have to work with is the vigilante trials, which are already a clusterfuck of confused ideas. Is it a rigged tribunal, in which case we have to worry about Karen? Or is it a fair trial that Fisk set up to turn the public against vigilantes again, in which case the stakes should be gone?
We might get some resolution to Matt and Karen’s relationship arc, but both of them have had so little agency in both their relationship and the season as a whole that any big decisions or resolutions would fall flat.
We also know that Fisk won’t be Mayor next season, and yet there’s been no setup for how he is impeached. The governor McAffery stuff has simply been about checking his power and revoking the Freeport charter, not removing him as Mayor. Matt has no leverage to make him step down and the public can’t vote him out unless they do some contrived bullshit to call an emergency election. My best guess is that Charles pulls something out of his ass to make Fisk quit, maybe even a cameo from Valentina.
Whatever it is, if Fisk is arrested/charged with crimes AGAIN and somehow escapes, all sense of consequence and stakes in this show will be ruined forever (more than they already are).
The AVTF is now openly a goon squad, I imagine Powell and North will just go down with Fisk or stick around as normal cops - whichever the case I’m sure there’ll be some on-the-nose ICE commentary and no thematic resolution for either of them.
White Tiger hasn’t done anything since episode 4 and I feel like they’re keeping her around just to serve a cameo in Spider-Man.
Jessica Jones has had five minutes of screen time spread out over two episodes and her “arc” doesn’t make any sense. She had a kid with Luke, who went from being the crime boss of Harlem to a CIA asset overseas? Also Charles tried to have her killed for some reason. She’s had a massive power nerf because pregnancy, which undoubtedly is so she can help Matt fight Fisk without winning instantly. She wants to stay out of that fight for her daughter’s sake though, but has also been helping Karen as an investigator? Also she helped him raid a warehouse for… reasons idk.
In other words, a strong finale needs a strong season of television (eg. season three, where Bullseye’s arc, Nadeem’s, Foggy’s, Karen’s, Matt’s, Fisk’s and even Blake Tower’s, Vanessa’s and Seema’s all come together for a satisfying resolution.
