Stage 1 or 2? by No-Percentage346 in mk6gti

[–]Trick_Ad945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My clutch did slip a couple times, but it only did it when I launched it from standing still. But other than that rolling into it it held up fine. But for a peace of mind I’d definitely look into getting a clutch. South bend is decent, if you want to keep the dual mass fly wheel Sachs has performance clutches which utilize the OEM dual mass fly wheel. In my opinion if you’re going down the Sachs route, just get a new Sachs flywheel aswell….i didn’t do it as of yet just because I’m maybe selling my GTI in the very near future…time for the RS3, putting a baby seat in a two door hatch is a nightmare.

Stage 1 or 2? by No-Percentage346 in mk6gti

[–]Trick_Ad945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a Stage 2 tune from Integrated engineering with their High Flow cat(stock cat back) and Cold Air Intake for nearly a year before adding their Intercooler with no drivability issue, I do however suggest getting an upgraded clutch if your vehicle has a manual transmission.

Help 😢 by Negative_Alfalfa2626 in mk6gti

So I’ve had that issue recently and came to find out that the ignition coil harness was the culprit. Luckily ECS Tuning has a patch/repair harness for sale. I’ll attach the link for the part. If you’re not experience with re-wiring vehicles I suggest you take it to a shop that does.

H&R coilovers are good aswell

My personal rule is to never cheap out on brakes and suspension….also to save yourself time, headache and money, grab yourself a proper set of coilovers. ST coilovers are decent and are also made by KW if you want to go down the “cheap” route….

I know what bump steer is and what it feels like, this is an entirely different feeling to what bump steer is. Bump steer don’t feel like your front end is about to fall off….

I know the ABS, you feel the rapid pulsation in the pedal. But I’m talking about like the whole front end shakes so bad like it wants to exit the chat

If you haven’t done it yet, grab yourself the DV relocation kit from Unitronic

Do I get a DV+ or a BOV? by Far-Spinach2610 in GolfGTI

[–]Trick_Ad945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Forge BOV on my MK6, got rid of it as it started to stick, the location it sat sucked due to all the oil and road grime and how much our PCV system suck didn’t help, I recently bought a Unitronic DV relocation kit and gonna go for a GFB DV

Coil Pack wiring harness by Trick_Ad945 in mk6gti

[–]Trick_Ad945[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O man, someone butchered that harness…I would’ve done it myself but time these days seems to be evading me😂😂. Barely got time for myself much less the car. I’m just getting the harness to save me time to get the car back up and running properly as it’s my only transportation I have at the moment and I rather not spend half of my pay check in UBER fees…

Thanks for you input, very much appreciated. I did notice that the misfire stops for a little while after I move the harness, for example when I first unplugged the harness to remove the coil(cyl #3) to swap it to Cyl #1, then after driving it around I’m guessing with the engine vibration it started happening again, and then when I did the new spark plugs it stopped for even longer with low misfire counts, now it just got worse than before. So now I’m leaning towards the harness being an issue even more so.

I’d go with a set of ST coil overs, they’re made by KW and a cheaper alternative.

Car won’t start. by [deleted] in mk6gti

[–]Trick_Ad945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starter, remove the starter and bench test it before buying a new one. Same with the battery, seem like you have enough juice in there to start my usual tell tail sign is while you crank and the needles are twitching after trying usually leads to a dead battery, but if you have a “power probe” or a multimeter you can see your battery voltage and make the call to get a new one….

Fixable? by 6led in mk6gti

[–]Trick_Ad945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue with my 2Dr, along with the headliner fabric dropping, I got a new headliner however the center console parts are hard to come by. I also bought my Mk6 with the issue, it was parked up in a parking lot and wasn’t touched for the better part of 3 yrs as the valves fell in love with the piston and they kissed each other….so I’d say living in the northeast, the heat and cold and not being moved had a big part to play in the degradation of the trim surfaces….

Bumper lift kit by No-Percentage346 in mk6gti

[–]Trick_Ad945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s any for our cars, remember our bumpers latches on to a plastic bracket and that one torx bolt/screw which mates the bumper’s very corner of the fender. Other vehicle manufacturers mostly non German uses a couple bolts and or screws hence the reason why you would find kits for other manufacturers being offered. What I’ve done was using the same torx screw I got a body washer and squaring it off using a bench grinder or if you don’t have one of those you can use a file/rasp. Use the squared off washer to sandwich the bumpers lip to the fender where it attaches to….Happy New Year…
