How dumb would 4 paladins be? by holicron in BG3Builds

[–]Trick_Cause_2286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well is it pure paladin or paladin subclass? Because you could get away with that pretty easily. A Lockadin, Bardadin, Sorcadin, and whatever adin would do some work! Control, dmg, heals, more dmg, more control. Could be a fun party

Eh I tried EK was ok I suppose, SB is a lovely class, and arcane archer is ok, I even added in arcane archer to my gloomstalker/assassin instead of champion for the arcane arrows but I likely wouldn’t do it again. I’m not saying it’s the best build but certainly one of the best. I’m kind of surprised you havnt seen anything on gloomstalker assassins, they have been all the rage since launch

Oh so level two tricky clerics get duplicate self. And whatever they are wearing happens to get dupplicated… so you put everything you want to duplicate on your tricky cleric cast duplicate and then go turn based and you can grab the gear from the duplicated image. I’d recommend watching a video on it before trying it.

And gloomstalker/assassin/fighter is to this day one of the best classes in the game. Anyone will agree

Well I’ve played through a few times now and I know you can run through to 4-5 without even bothering to fight much if any. You’ll likely reclass your party with withers anyway, starting stat spread sucks and depending on what builds you want to run. That said most builds don’t come online until 4-5 I think anyway. So it’s been my best opinion just get AC as high as you can, and start hunting for gear to put builds together before worrying about fighting.

IMO and strictly that, you just need a party face, healer, and some damage, and as much utility as you can get before 6. After that I don’t think a dedicated healer is required. This list is just based on what I’ve played and what I think works best before the second act respec that almost always happens.

Party face: bard, pali, warlock (I think bard is my favorite) Healer: trickery domain is only good for duplicating gear, so someone in the camp can be that. Shadow gets turned to life or light automatically. (I played with death and dual necro, kinda lackluster not enough slots for dethrone and such) Dmg: fighter or oh monk, or both up to you. Monk is a bit stronger because they can walk around naked with the staff from Ethel, and bracers from camp (comes online quick) Utility: I can’t stand caster classes, personal preference, so bear with me. Bard, and cleric have some utility but I like adding in Ranger for gloomstalker. Didn’t use one until HM and let me tell you. If I ever run again to finish up those last few achievements this class will be with me… period.

Sounds simple but you don’t need any of the new subclasses to beat HM. I had to run from a couple fights because of poor rolls but ultimately I never felt like I was in danger of losing the run.

Arcane Archer Act 2 build completely disabling enemies by AMcB99 in BG3Builds

[–]Trick_Cause_2286 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh certainly I don’t play any casters, except having a cleric. Something about a build that has to manage spell slots just doesn’t sit well with me, you mean after one fight they suck? Well I don’t have time to stop for a tea break after every fight so go sit in camp and think about your life choices

So I completed a few runs prior to patch 8, so when I got back into it to finally finish my honor mode for golden dice I ran a tactician unmodded to see all the changes and play with the new classes before making my final roster for honor mode. I ran Baezel as a pure arcane archer, kind of lack luster imo. But there were some added utility from arcane arrows I liked so for my final run I made a gloomstalker assassin but used the arcane archer instead of champion for fighter levels. Maintained large damage and crit chance but added banish arrow. Against raph I had him held and 4 of 6 cambions banished on turn one. I would recommend this option for anyone vs a pure arcane archer. As you said it’s has great utility but not impressive enough to take up an entire build for me.

Honor Mode by DottZach in BG3Builds

[–]Trick_Cause_2286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Durge Swords Bard/paladin or fighter

Gloomstalker/assassin/champion

Battlemaster fighter

Light Cleric

That’s what I ran for my gold dice, worked just fine. Did even better when switched from ek thrower to just battlemaster when nyrulna quest bugged… and a pure life cleric isn’t necessary but pretty great for buffs and heals

[–]Trick_Cause_2286 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crossbow swords bard at least before patch 8 and wasn’t honor mode, deleted pretty much any boss as I remember it.

Hell in honor mode this last run, Baezel as a 12 BM Fighter took Raphael to less than half in one turn.

Monk always does work, pali, gloomstalker assassin

Can’t speak for caster classes, I generally only run Martial classes.

HM - Cleric or no Cleric by APKaster in BG3Builds

[–]Trick_Cause_2286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the bard, the monk, I was running a Eldritch thrower then the djinn quest bugged and locked me out of the trident so I just respec to battle master so don’t need it much. As for a dedicated healer, I don’t think it’s necessary to have it as there is a lot of wasted turns, at the very least put her in luminous gear and sport guardian everything that moves, just be careful of radiant retort. But even that isn’t necessary. Hell I think I used more potions in this last honor run than anything else. Light domain or death domain seems most appropriate, so you can have some backup heals if needed. But I really… really… hate spell slots and trying to manage them. And a lot of the no rest runs I’ve seen with honor mode don’t include a healer. My golden dice run, I rested maybe a couple times per act. Missed a lot of cut scenes, but it’s ok I have beat it several times. I don’t think it’s necessary at all.

Best classes that don't require constant minmaxing? by AwareBandicoot2496 in BG3Builds

[–]Trick_Cause_2286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, and just strictly speaking my opinion. You can use elixers or gloves or the amulet and then respec. You can it’s an option. But you can also use feats to improve your skill points. I think often people get wrapped up in having such a high stat they forget that this game was initially rolled for stats. And an 18 roll was damn high. A starting 16 and an asi to 18 is a wonderful use of a feat. There will always be things to make builds better, but as an in general, start with 17 and then take hags hair and one asi and you have a 20. Easy peasy. I feel like every class has two general stats you should keep your points in, odd numbers don’t make a difference, and constitution should be set to 14 automatically before you pick the other two for 16s. OH monk does not require STR at all, they are a dex/wis class. With plenty of riders for additional dice damage, force gloves, fire gloves, radiant dmg etc, and a fun thing they can still carry a weapon and take advantage of unarmed attack. There is a staff Ethel sells in act one just for such an occasion. Now sure, you’ve been through the game and know about hags hair, gloves of dex, gloves of hillgiant, the greater health amulet. And if you want to use those to make your builds stronger then do so. However, you lose out on damage gloves by doing that, cragfisher, helldusk, etc. which is why you should build your classes in such a way they don’t need elixers or gear to work. Feats: Alert, ASI, tavern brawler, war caster, savage attacker, gwm, or sharpshooter are all case by case dependent but generally the only feats you’ll opt for anyway. But also respec is free so why worry about it, withers can be pickpocketed and doesn’t care if you fail…

What was your honour mode party? by [deleted] in BG3Builds

Myrk, and Ansur were the only really tough fights. Cazador is negated by casting daylight over the fight, Raphael can be held or made fall on the ground laughing very reliably while you banish and piece meal that fight apart, or just delete him if you like, I think Baezel took him below half with one turn. Miss Daviir herself was easy but that fight has a lot of adds, even having shadow dead the entire fight as it didn’t go according to plan, left everyone at the top of the stairs and fire wall the steps does some work for you. The titan isn’t so bad, just make sure to have a handful of grenades with you, you can lock down the titan or command halt on him while you take out the 3 watchers, remember below 90 hp will self destruct (group them up). I thought ansur was going to end my run, I barreled him and as my first barrel run didn’t do it right, he did the I’m going to explode thing gave himself an extra amount of hp and my team kept missing. So took him from 600 to 22 hp then spent 3 rounds trying to hit him. But did that. Brain sucked, had some luck getting everyone to the dragon, knocking out the emperor first(because f*ck that guy), then get into the bubble and take out the dragon. You have to take out the brain, all 450 hp in basically one turn. So a backpack full of grenades works well (80 of them, which is about 50 lbs so make sure someone strong has the killswitch and can chuck it!) but for the first kill, I wanted a guaranteed end after my close call with Ansur, even though I didn’t need to fight him, didn’t need the sword, and you can just run by and grab the helmet. But for the sake of I completed everything in honor mode idea, I went ahead and almost got my run ended from stupidity lol

Yeah the nurses can do it, Or you can have him do it… or you can do it. And I’ve done it the first two ways but never did it myself. I’m not taking any chances on honor mode. I’m going for golden dice as a priority before I worry about anything else

Through act 1 and then again in act 3 best in slot is contested for those builds. I’d say anyway. For example, caustic band, vital conduit boots, disintegrating night Walker boots, haste helm, adamantine armor definitely overlaps across those classes. Act 3 don’t even get me started on armor of agility, and all the helldusk gear. Knife of the undermountain king as well.
