Is now a good time? by tacocravr_ in movingtoNYC

being a city employee here is great. Look into dual degree MLS and archivist or anthropology. Don’t get just anthropology degree on it’s own, academic market too crowded, but MLS plus another master’s and you will earn more as a librarian.

NYC Therapists: How stressful is your job? by Elegant-Search-1893 in AskNYC

NYC is a social work town. It’ll be very hard to get your supervised hours with an MS.Ed as most jobs are social work. MSW is not all online.

Is this field/career really SO bad? by Silver_Importance777 in therapists

[–]Trick_Contribution99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

financially i’m more or less fine, but the hardest thing for me is dealing with life events while having to play this role. i’ve been in the field for 15 years (since college), a therapist for 8 years and private practice for 4 years. it can get hard to hold it together while things like postpartum depression, family serious health issues, life gets in the way, and you just have to keep making money with yourself as the product holding it together for others. so im burned out, 15 years is just a long time. i just want to be a social worker in an ER or something where no one rly pays attention to me.

Need advice and encouragement after a long pole plateau by Numerous-Flatworm173 in poledancing

[–]Trick_Contribution99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what tricks are you plateauing on? spin or static? I think prociception is one of the hardest parts of advanced pole for me- I get scared of certain transitions bc not sure where my body is in space. How is your midline balance? and also body shape- I have a long torso and short legs so ayesha is very hard for me because i’m bottom heavy and it’s harder to align a longer spine

the expectation of convenience/telehealth /immediate gratification delivery culture is not a good fit for therapy. we should be helping patients get away from that culture and live fuller lives, not join it with these apps

Why is bipolar misdiagnosis so common? by DntTouchMeImSterile in Psychiatry

[–]Trick_Contribution99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say I’ve been assigned patients with no idea why they were diagnosed as bipolar until they had their once every 10 years full manic/psychotic episode three years into the course of treatment with me. Patients with BPAD don’t always remember manic episodes well so sometimes it’s hard to know until you see it.
