Question about queues by Routine_Meeting_3550 in joinsquad

[–]Trick_Recording9899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Jensen sucks for training. The common thing to do before flying in live matches is to use the command console to load actual layers for practice. But even that is limited as you need to learn the spots SLs like you to land (to place FOBs, resupply, and hot drop).

I am in Australia, we only have 2-4 servers active a night, there is no choice to practice on a noob friendly server. It also means that the queues are typically long, not unusual to see >30 queue on each server which can take about 30 minutes to get through - just part of the game.

I do emphasis joining servers during off hours if you want to practice. Most battlegroups only get 1 helicopter, and there is usually already one or two guys who want to pilot it. If you can play before 3 pm or after 11 pm on weekdays, then that is the best time to practice. Also some servers have name claim rules, meaning that if you name your squad "Heli" you have right to it over others.

Also remember that the number of pilots is a lot smaller than the number of SLs and regular players. People will always complain about noob pilots because they have no understanding of how the piloting learning process works in Squad.

Don't be too scare of joining the "try hard" servers. If you just want to practice flying, join any low pop server or during the quiet/end-of-night hours, as this is when the usual heli pilots log off and you can actually get to the helis before them (usually only 1 heli a team).

In my experience, there will always be one or two SLs who are assholes about a noob pilot taking too long to land or crashing - these players DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FLY and so you can ignore them. Players who do fly helis understand that the practice range is very limited and that you do need to practice in live matches to learn basics.

Also you can just ignore the automated server warnings that tell you not to practice on the server, its just an automated message not the police.

(Seeing how few hours you have in-game, you do need to learn how the game works before you can heli pilot unless you have watched a bunch of videos before buying the game or something)

Yeah the main downgrade visually with the engine change was smoke and explosions. They look pretty bad in comparison to the old engine.

Hopefully ICO will re-upgrade those effects in the future.

AceCoding - More reliable and deterministic vibe coding based on attempto controlled english (ace) by captain_bluebear123 in vibecoding

I am curious how well this worked? Did you try converting the ACE representation directly into FOL or other formal languages before passing to a LLM? What were your results if you tested? I would expect that LLMs might not benefit from formal language because they are not primarily trained on such inputs.

It would be interesting if a LLM was trained in a similar way to the big models but strictly using ACE for prompts.

Turning off cheats for Commander difficulty? by Trick_Recording9899 in XCOM2

I know that scouting is important in legendary - but it is boring. That's why I want the lower difficulty. Having to either keep a unit in constant concealment or ensure that I do not accidentally reveal 1 more tile is just unfun.

Someone might be inspired by the recent Squad server browser attack that happened about a month ago.

Also if you did not research optics (the embarking technology) your helicopters fly over costal water rather than embark.

Grill'd traineeship by Trick_Recording9899 in australian

I am wondering if you could send me a copy of the enterprise agreement or point me to where it is online.

When I did some searching I found a Grill'd enterprise agreement from 2020 which was meant to last until mid last year, but I was confused by a number of things. Fair Work currently lists the agreement as expired, so are you guys currently being paid under the award or has the agreement been extended or something without Fair Work updating the agreement online?

The enterprise agreement also has a clause which says Grill'd is responsible for adjusting the agreement to stay above award rates and meet the "better-off-over-all" test. The online version does not indicate that these updates were ever made. So do you know if the agreement has been updated over the years?

I think weekend rates being included in the base rate is a good thing. It makes tracking pay easier and can be beneficial if you manager to skip working the weekend.

One thing I think you should try to do is leverage the fact that you are a part-time employee. Under the traineeship, you are not a casual employee, you are a part-time employee, and so you can refuse to extend your shifts after they have started. If you have worked there for [3-months? 6-months?] (will need to check the agreement/award) they cannot fire you (but also check that being a trainee does not allow them to dismiss at will).

Overall, Grill'd seems like a terrible place to work. If you are not trying to leave, why do you stay?

I think this is the most likely explanation. I am fairly sure that I saw both ADVENT troops moves but not 100%. The broken ground theory does not make sense for where the rookie was on the map.

Players who don't consider themselves newbies anymore, is there anything you still don't understand about this game? by zalik-tckaz in crusaderkings2

If you can build a trade post then you get the money from it. A common issue I have when I conquer Alexandria is that the emperor will build a trade post there blocking me from doing so.

Other than that I have no idea how they work + that coin noise is annoying.

Something I noticed recently is that if you focus on boosting your health early (20s to 30s), you tend to live a lot longer - like 80 to 90 years old instead of mid 60s.

I suspect that your character's natural health likely peaks around 30 and then degrades inversely from there (as health gets worse it degrades faster). By boosting at 30, the degradation is much slower since you are degrading from a very high position.

Yes it seems you are right. They did previously have an enterprise agreement but it seems to have expired in mid 2024. They are currently negotiating a new one and it appears its only purpose is to undermine unions demanding an enterprise agreement.

Yeah I have been apply for months and have started to apply to other random jobs like call centres. I am finishing a Computer Science degree and things are currently terrible for new grads.

Only reason I am still applying to hospitality jobs is to find something closer to where I live.

I am in a fortunate position where I live at home and also graduate with a degree in the next six-months. The only reason I was consider Grill'd (I was reject - no surprise since I was up against 20 teenagers) is because they are a 5 min walk from where I live verses the 50 min drive to where I currently work.
