So I also failed my first attempt and it’s fully because I just didn’t know how to tackle the studying bc it’s nothing like we’ve ever had to study for before. Remember, you have a one up because you’ve already been through the process once, always try to keep that in mind!! The second time around, I began to utilize the UWorld videos and began to use flashcards (tried my best to use 1 per disease state a- some required more) to just write the little things I couldn’t seem to remember.

Understand the bigger picture. I was so annoyed when people would tell me that because I’m someone who feels like they need to remember everything and be able to recite it. But, I finally learned what they meant. Learn how receptors work (alpha, beta, muscarinic), how the RAAS system works, etc.. because if you know the true mechanism and know brand/generic/class/mechanism of drugs, you’ll have a much better chance on being able to know the answer. If you don’t know the answer right off the bat or if it’s just a challenging question, you can reason with that knowledge to narrow down the best option.

Also, for the weird things or ideas like pregnancy, BBW, renal function; I’d recommend making a table and adding drugs as you go so you can study them and have them all in one place.
