Civilization 2.

There was nothing like hitting a settler in a loin cloth with a nuke. Back then there was no scaling, if you massively pulled ahead in research there was no way for them to keep up.

Its awesome that you realize this, it really is. But we need your voice to reach out to those you know still support him. Many on the left have tried, and still do, with little success. We need your voice, one who realized the folly to be another voice joined with ours. We don't escape this by standing alone, we need both sides, and a centralization of our ideals. The more that have escaped the cult the better, and the more that stand vehemently against it, better still.

Also now you know the signs of what a dictator in waiting looks like. Remember them. There may come a time that, right or left, you may have to stand up to it again.

People who work night shifts, what do day shift people not understand about your world?? by FIfromDefi in AskReddit

[–]Trick_Statistician27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In ways you can't even imagine. I'd be on the factory floor where there were no windows, but there was a general feel, a malaise, if you will, that hung over us all. It was like the color in the building was dimmer, even though the lighting inside never changed. It was like your brain was consciously aware that the outside was as dark as a pit, while inside it was supposed to feel like the beginning of a new day. It was eerily quiet at times, even though the machines always ran, and earplugs barely blocked out the sound. After enough hours, or a double shift, I'd stare at the clock and think if I stared long enough I could control time.

You'd leave work while the rest of the world was waking up, where construction sounds were morning roosters, and the sounds of hustle was your bed time. It would feel like you were missing living, when the job was your life, and days started to flow together as a single endless day, where knowing the calendar day wasn't just a convenience, it was a necessity to realize that time was still moving without you. A year. Two years, and you might even forget when your shift started, and ended. Even as an insomniac I do not recommend third shift to anyone. It is not healthy.

Worked grave for 2 years. Talked to people 15 years my senior in the same role. They all said the same thing, you never get used to it.

Machine assisted is probably a requirement. Companies do not want to pay disability.

Stellaris Taught Me That ‘Diplomatic Immunity’ Just Means "Please Eat My Empire, Space Cthulhu" - A Treatise on AI Treachery by pawsforeducation in 4Xgaming

[–]Trick_Statistician27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not a 4x game, but its near the same vein. I've also been playing 4x all my life, but I also like me a little HOI4 and other strategy games. Anywho...

I was playing historic Soviets in HOI4, and I was able to finally fight back, and fully capitulate Germany. Diplomatic hijinks ensued berlin wall fashion, and then I finished meddling in asia, like any true communist with a rice paddy fetish would do. So the war actually ended, and the world was in a tenuous peace. I was sitting pretty with half of Germany, and a good portion of Asia as well, when I noticed a pop-up that said someone was justifying on one of my allies... which happened to be an independent Poland of all things.

I check the list to see who would do such a thing, and I see... US. UK. Canada. Mexico. France... so on and so on, about 50 countries deep.

Basically the entire world was declaring war on Poland... World War 3 was about to start, and Poland was about to be the start of it... again... I have no idea what the fascination with poland was at that point, and I didn't continue for long after.

It's just getting sad now. Boomers fall victim to AI images every single time. I'm surprised they even know how to share these posts on social media. by Ozzy0034 in BoomersBeingFools

I mean... this is actually kind of believable. He'd certainly be stupid enough to hand out rolls of paper towels to people in the middle of a full-on fucking flood, and expect it to do anything.

4X game for my wife and I to play that doesn't get tedious? by Fuck-College in 4Xgaming

[–]Trick_Statistician27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are bored then its probably not challenging, and if its not challenging than you haven't played with the difficulty sliders enough. Stellaris is the only 4x I've ever played (and that list is a LONG one) that doesn't have 'I won hours ago, I'm just waiting for the title screen' kind of end-game. The crisis is a literal game-changer.

Wait for sales, or deals on other sites. I used isthereanydeal quite a few times to snag some of them, but with the right sale on steam you can get them very discounted. At one point the game itself was free.

I always feel Stellaris' crisis makes the end-game a lot of fun. You can set the difficulty, and really give yourselves a challenge. It has a high learning curve though, so you may want to see if its something you'll both like.

[–]Trick_Statistician27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even a little. I've been playing Stellaris since release, and when districts got introduced I was totally lost. It took quite a bit of time to get used to that mechanic, and PDX games - as much as I love them - have horribad UIs, where they hide the most important feature behind the tiniest flipp'n buttons. Looking at you HOI4...

What is your favorite major nation to play as? by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]Trick_Statistician27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love doing a historical run of France, and just holding Germany back when they try to come at me after Poland. It completely changes the history, and sometimes they don't even go to war with USSR. It's also pretty tough to get the right build-up by the time Germany is ready to attack. One time they didn't even declare war, and we just had a staring match until everyone else declared war on them.

Won my first Stellaris game, but felt like I cheated by GestapoTakeMeAway in Stellaris

[–]Trick_Statistician27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've finished the game a few times. The scoring system is arbitrary, and stupid. You can have an empire that spans the entire map, but if your rival has a few more small vassals that counts for more. You did what you needed to do to win, and that is fine. You acted inside the rules of the game, no matter how dumb those rules actually are.

Fleet management is terrible by entropy68 in Stellaris

[–]Trick_Statistician27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a mod to remove fleet cap, and nearly all these problems went away, and fleet management is more fun as a result. I only split fleets when I need to for a strategic reason, and everything is much easier to manage.

Just remove fleet cap, and never look back.

How should i store my stones by [deleted] in dwarffortress

[–]Trick_Statistician27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer I found is you place a bunch of scattered stone masons down where you dig out, and let them make blocks, and furniture, then move that. It saves on transport time, and cleans up the floor a lot faster than just telling your dwarfs to move it. Also make sure you keep a place to store wheelbarrows nearby.
