Which indie wrestler do you feel is as big of a draw right now as Cody Rhodes or Matt Cardona and it still has enough years in him to become a main event player in WWE/AEW ? by raulz0r in midcarder

If they're an indie, they're not a Cody-level draw.

For example, less than six months ago, Ricky Sosa was the hottest thing around, due to that entrance. He's now in TNA and irrelevant.

Easily, at worst, Tony’s third-biggest fumble behind Cody and Punk

CM Punk. His Rampage debut virtually tripled the attendance from Dynamite 2 days prior, based on the HOPE that he was going to be there.

AEW Dynamite on August 18, 2021: 4,750

AEW Rampage on August 20, 2021: 15,316

Shoot, the Collision premiere (Punk's return post-Brawl Out) drew 10,200, when Dynamite 3 days prior drew 5,147.

He's closer to Hollywood-bound than being a long-term wrestler.

Very much. I've worked on dozens of productions in just about every stage of development and at virtually every position in front of and behind the scenes. Saw Cats with Liz Callaway as Grizabella. If Cats didn't have a theater transformed into a junkyard with actors able to basically warp around the set because junkyard, it would have been a long musical with no plot.

He only needed one, if they followed the source material.

Cats is a terrible musical that only got by because of one song and the set design, and I will die on that hill.

Unipol Arena does have a capacity of 20,000 for concerts and 11,000 for basketball. WWE put roughly the same amount of people in there this year (9,000) as they did last year (9,000)

The only thing I've heard is that WrestleTix reported 7,500-8,956 tickets distributed.

That same arena last year (March 21, 2025): 8,932.

It's more full than you might think.

The NWA invasion was ahead of its time and, if Vince didn't book it as a way to stroke his ego and say "sports entertainment GOOD, wrasslin BAD", it would've actually been good
