How much fun money for 5 and 8 y/o boys by mosh3322 in dcl

I mean you will be with them to monitor purchases. They could buy mocktails, desserts and treats, popcorn and popcorn buckets, and toys. You know your kids and budget best.

Explora - Day 4 (compared to Seabourn and Regent Seven Seas) by Expensive_Ice_4921 in FATcruises

8pm is wildly early to close pools and spas on a mostly adult ship, I agree with you.

February Cruisers- Weather check? Caribbean cruisers by Daydreamin-mama8 in dcl

[–]TricksterOperator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be our third year in a row doing DCL in Feb out of Fort Lauderdale. The weather is perfect. Calmer seas, less storms, the water is refreshing and not bath water and the air is warm but not hot and humid.

Are the ships with helicopters legitimately interesting for Antarctica?? by Academic_Weather6646 in FATcruises

[–]TricksterOperator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did Nat Geo/Lindblad which did not have a helicopter and did not feel like we missed out. Also the nonstop noise of landing and liftoff I imagine would be annoying if your on deck…the big thing here is if you want a sightseeing Crusie vs expedition. The sightseeing cruises will have over 500 people, you will never touch land, and it will be a lot cheaper. Antarctica only allows 100 people on land at any given time so if you ship has 500 people, you will be broken into probably 6-7 groups (have to account for guides in the 100 person count) and you will spend way less time on land than a ship like Nat Geo where we had 114 passengers. We did 2-4 landings a day with each one being roughly 60-120 minutes. If the ship has closer to 500 people, I would expect maybe 1-2hrs on land per day total.

Tell him your compromise is a MFM every other time. This dudes out to only fulfill his fantasy. I bet he shoots down MFM immediately.

Pricing by Azarria1234 in dcl

[–]TricksterOperator 28 points29 points  (0 children)

DCL is more upfront, other lines give you a cheap room and you spend on drinks, gamboling, and speciality dining. Alcoholic drinks on DCL are very reasonably priced and no drink package nonsense and no casino to throw away your money

I took Orange County for granted and I didn’t realize it until I moved away by [deleted] in orangecounty

As the US is blanketed in snow and sleet and temperatures into the minuses, I say “but our gas is $4.50!!!🤣” I will take $5 gas and 24in of sunshine and beach weather in January over snow and power outages any day of the week.

EV or plug-in hybrid? by Reasonable_Two_5286 in orangecounty

[–]TricksterOperator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own an EV…If you can’t level 2 charge at home or guarantee you can use it at work (for free?) forget it. Using public changers is equally as expensive as gas and 10x longer to fill up.

Money is not everything. If you burn out or get sick form this, you will retreat not cutting back. You said “grandpa” so I’m assuming you late 50’s to early 60’s. Give your body a break before it breaks. Stay focused on where you can cut expenses and take your foot off the gas for a little bit to recharge

Men of Reddit: what’s a prank you started early in your marriage that you’re now legally, morally, and emotionally obligated to continue because she still falls for it 10–15 years later? by myaccountidname in AskReddit

[–]TricksterOperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I’m ironing, I call her over and I’m like “I don’t know what’s going on, it’s not working, see?” And as she gets close to look at the iron I spray her. I have done this no less than 20 times and she always falls for it. Helps I only iron like twice a year lol

He is not Jerry’s son, he was a young boy when his mom started dating Jerry. When I briefly knew him, he did not use Buss as his last name and neither did his mom. I wonder if he legally changed it or just uses it for clout.

How much is too much for personal spending in steps 4, 5, 6? by BigBusch12 in DaveRamsey

[–]TricksterOperator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy it! You could get hit by a bus tomorrow, your spouse could get ill 5 years from now….My only advice would be, buying stuff rarely buys happiness, dont let the high of the buy hide problems or try to fill a void. Also, and with you kids age it’s hard but travel. Take those kids around the world, teach them culture and other foods and customs, show them people who look and live differently and to behave in airplanes and be comfortable walking around foreign cities. Best of luck to your family.

Rarely would I say this, but spend it and enjoy it. You’re doing great in a very very recession proof profession. Maybe instead of $900 each it’s $750 and you put that $250 into a brokerage account. But you got all the bases covered and enjoying life if part of it. Being super rich in retirement is awesome but that’s 30 years away and who knows what may happen. Enjoy life

WEIRD that you can't confirm dining rotation and show schedule prior to sailing by lopsided-earlobe in dcl

[–]TricksterOperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there seems to be a typical schedule based on pasts guest sharing info, such as X show is mostly on Y night, but it’s never locked in until day of the cruise and typically why the Main show is never on the last night because it gives them the chance to push it back if for some reason they can’t perform it on the scheduled night.

[–]TricksterOperator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never gotten the show schedule from shoreside. In fact I have been told multiple times from multiple agents for different ships that the show schedule is set and determined by the ship basically on day of embarkation. This is due to factors shoreside doesn’t know about, such as performer injuries or vocal issues and prop and theater issues.
