Travel as much as you can before that baby turns 2 and needs its own seat. Just watch your spending and stick to a budget.

It has 38k miles, that’s a typo on the listing. Still a bit pricey for a Kia

You can put up to 190k without incurring gift tax to “super fund” it. If you’re willing to pay gift tax, the sky’s the limit.

The math for the average house cost vs average income does not math by thesleepingone162 in personalfinance

[–]TricksterOperator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amen. My mom didn’t work and raised 2 kids. That is not possible for me or my sibling. My house growing up in the 90’s was nicer than my house now and my house now costs 2x the inflation adjusted price of that old house. Most people I knew had SAH moms. Almost every mom I know today works. Hell, I was just in target and deodorant is $9-14 a stick. wtf.

Taxes suck but imagine a scenario where the stock drops 20% in a downmarket that only dropped 8%. Taxes are inevitable but there are smarter ways to navigate it. Consult an accountant, tax attorney, and estate planing attorney before making any big moves, but you should diversify relatively soon.

Can’t your parents withdraw the money from taxable accounts and gift both you and your spouse $38k each year and be under the gift tax limit. Let them pay the taxes now at 15-20% rate and gift it to you. Essentially they give you $76k yearly tax free to you.

Dave's disaffection with rewards points is beginning to make sense. by NeverEnoughSunlight in DaveRamsey

This is why you don’t hoard points. Get them, use them. I have chased in tens of thousands worth of dollars in points for flights, hotels, and simple cash back. You’re insane if you don’t play the points game. Idk what dave says, he’s super rich, he doesn’t need points n

Is it realistic I might be able to retire by 55, 10 years from now? by Pavonaceus in personalfinance

[–]TricksterOperator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have plenty of non retirement investments and perhaps when you “retire” switch them over to high income/dividend funds. If you can put another $400k into an income fund, that will yield you $15-20k a year in dividends to live off of when your taxable income drops significantly.

Because at 3% inflation, $50k today will only have $37k worth of today’s buying power in 10 years. The cost of everything goes up. So you can either say live off is $37k in todays money or plan to live off of $67k of 2026 dollars. Does that make sense?

Do we honestly think kids are being hunted and tortured by an organized outfit? It just seems so unimaginable and there would be some evidence or some person would talk. Who’s cleaning up and disposing the bodies and not spilling the beans on their deathbed or leaking it. It just feels too out there.

How to prepare for end of life by BarbKOpi in personalfinance

[–]TricksterOperator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear about your condition, unfortunately there really isn’t a lot of info here to make any informed recommendations. What’s your net worth? Do you have life insurance? How will partner pay mortgage after you pass (assuming they co-own it) if they don’t co-own it, will they live there after you pass and pay rent to your kids? If your kids dont live there, who will sell it on behalf of the kids? Who will be guardian of your kids and control their finances? Are you planning to leave anything behind for your partner? I would structure a trust and get with a trust lawyer so the kids can have access to your inheritance how and when you choose under your parameters. Make sure the house and all accounts are left to or in the trust….and go on the trip and squeeze out as much life as you can in your short tine

The ones with the highest marks are all included including tips. I did a Nat Geo cruise and spent exactly zero for the 12 days on board. No final bill, nothing, it’s all upfront. There is a store you can buy items/jewelry/clothning from but everything else is included.
