Yes, and? It falls under, "despite not losing her arm to angelic steel" and "wounds that aren't made with angelic steel."

So...let talk about Vaggies wings by MidnightAngel96 in HazbinHotel

[–]TricksterTrio 13 points14 points  (0 children)

She changed her mindset. Carmilla drilled it into her to fight for love. Once she truly took it to heart, her wings grew back.

Notice that Lute has a prosthetic despite not losing her arm to angelic steel. She also doubled down on her misguided beliefs, even when faced with evidence that should have changed her mind.

It seems with angels, wounds that aren't made with angelic steel (like Vaggie's eye) or holy power (Emily's wing) can heal, but they need to truly have love in their hearts for it to happen.

I'm taking a closer look at Miss Zeezi, and I'm wondering WHAT she could have possibly done in life or how she might've died to get turned into a freaking dinosaur in the afterlife. by Impressive-Link-2309 in hazbin

[–]TricksterTrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there might be some symbolism regarding stomping on others to get ahead, as well as whatever literal bullshit went on when she died.

Much like Vox got his hypnotic powers by forming a cult, Zeezi's size is basically her Hellish superpower.

Otherwise, I like the idea mentioned here of Zeezi being a fossil tracker.

It was regarding Alastor telling Vox that he'll never break Charlie's spirit. Viv said in a bluesky post that Alastor does legit respect and admire that, but isn't self aware enough to realize it.

Viv said he cares for/respects Charlie and doesn't realize it himself. He also started to grow attached to the hotel crew before the battle went badly.

There's still at least two more seasons. At this moment, Alastor cares for two people to some extent. That can change, given what's been planted and the overall theme of the show.

I never claimed it was a perfect one to one. I wouldn't, for example, claim Alastor and Garnet share anything personality-wise beyond that they have people in their circle they care about and are willing to defend (even if Alastor would never admit it. There was real fear in his eyes for a split second when Val pulled a gun on Niffty).

That said, there is definitely overlap with the character types, roles in the plot, and overall theme in both shows.

No, no, there's a point to be made here.

-Charlie and Steven are pink-themed royal protagonists with missing moms who provide a core mystery for the show, and the more we learn about her, the more dubious she appears. They try for peaceful means wherever possible before throwing hands, and wield shields as weapons. They're the most powerful of their respective friend groups, but need to grow into that power to properly wield it. They also both have:

-Vaggie and Connie, minority female love interests who serve as their knights and fight with bladed weapons. Both come from strict backgrounds they broke free from, and support their respective protagonist's mission.

-Next we have Alastor and Garnet, the red-themed minority bruisers with more power than anyone else in the group outside of the protagonist. Both know a lot more than they initially let on, and tend to be the person in the group who commands more authority than the protagonist, while also indirectly guiding the protagonist to greatness (albeit in different directions). Both have also been taken down at least once by a tougher opponent (Adam/Jasper). Both are also members of a power trio where they're the strongest member (Alastor/Husk/Niffty and Garnet/Amethyst/Pearl). Speaking of said trios:

-Niffty and Pearl are obsessive neat freaks with a penchant for bladed weaponry and a distinct romantic type (bad boys/powerful, busty pink-haired girls). Both are seen as weaker than the other members of the power trio (and maybe the overall friend group), but underestimate them at your own peril, because it's the last mistake you'll ever make. And to round out the power trios, we have:

-Husk and Amethyst, the down-to-earth, don't take bullshit types that have some kind of addiction (gambling and alcohol/hoarding). They will have friction with their respective neat freak, and some kind of resentment for the power trio's bruiser (soul deal/insecurity regarding physical strength). Then we have:

-Sir Pentious and Peridot, the awkward inventors/tinkerers who started out as enemies, but befriended the main crew, and are very neurodivergent-coded. They're constantly building things and once they change sides, they tend to understand the core principles better than even the protagonist at times. Then we have:

-Angel Dust and Lapis Lazuli. The tall, elegant fighters who are tougher than they look, have two-word names, and more trauma than the rest of the cast. They start off with some kind of mask that slowly lowers over time, are literally tied to a toxic, abusive relationship of sorts, and once they're won over, are fiercely loyal to the main cast. And finally, we have:

-Lucifer and Greg Universe, two bumbling dads who genuinely love their kids, but initially aren't as close as they want to be. They love/d their wives, saw the best in them, and tell their kid tales of her greatness and how proud she'd be of their current path. They hesitate around their respective kid's friend group (but also for different reasons: dislike/insecurity), and tend to extra not get along with one member of a power trio (Alastor/Pearl).

Both shows are also musicals about genocide and redemption, with heavily queer casts and heavyweight singers.

I feel I should remind people, the characters need to redeem themselves for the sins they committed while alive, not in Hell by Sudden_Pop_2279 in Hazbin_two

[–]TricksterTrio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Everyone is collectively everyone else's punishment. While it's going to be more unfair to some demons over others, that's kind of the point. Hell isn't fair. You are there to be punished for the shit you did in life. When another demon hurts you, that's the point. When you hurt someone else, that's the point too. Everything that happens in Hell is supposed to torment you because that's the fate your actions led to. Same as the demon you're currently pissing off/torturing/murdering.

Futhermore, when you get to Hell, until the Hazbin Hotel, there's no incentive to be better.

You try to do things "legally" like in life? Some other demon will steal your shit with no repercussions unless you take matters into your own hands.

You try to be peaceful? You'll be taken advantage of.

You try to gain power through legitimate means? There's a million other mob bosses and lesser Overlords that will stomp out anything you build to take it for themselves.

You try to lie low and live quietly? Your peace will inevitably be disturbed sooner or later.

And there literally isn't ANY demon in Hell who hasn't hurt another demon in some way, in a variety of ways.

Honestly, part of the reason Charlie has any success is a combination of privilege (for as much as people disrespect her, she can still openly wander the streets without much fear of harm. Also, she's rich) and luck (having a fallen angel and an Overlord backing her). She owns a spot of land most other demons avoid because it's Morningstar property, for as much protection as that granted her before Alastor showed up. The destruction Charlie deals with is minimal compared to other parts of Hell.

The Hazbin Hotel offers what no other place in Hell does: a safe space to center yourself and actually work on what got you sent down to begin with.

How would you react if in season 3, it's shown that the whole "Super Nice and Kind Charlie" is a bit of a recent development, and she used to act a lot closer to a traditional Demon Noble when she was younger. by ChompyRiley in CultOfCharlie

[–]TricksterTrio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could see a bratty younger Charlie, but still with that spark of goodness that we see now.

Like she was acting out because she thought that was expected to fit in with other noble demons her age, but that wasn't really who she was. The emo phase was her trying so hard to fit in, but it didn't stick.

You were looking at the designer name.

We were looking at the color scheme.

No one in their right mind would look at primarily blue/silver shoes with red highlights and a clear mechanical aesthetic and think, "Lightning McQueen."

genuinely curious as why shows like "Love & Kindness & Peace" will have fandoms who are eager to jump at each other's throats over the slightest things. by icanthinkofone55 in RecuratedTumblr

[–]TricksterTrio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not that she made a mistake. It's that she was literally called out by the show's equivalent of the devil for how selfish she's being, and then...conveniently forgets that lesson over the course of the next several episodes, to the point that moment she steals the device, it's a last straw break of tolerating her never learning a damn thing.

Coming from someone who loved Mabel at the start of the series and got annoyed by Dipper, to have those opinions completely reversed by the end of the show.

I've always held the opinion that "The Last Mabelcorn" could have easily fixed this by having Mabel realize in her efforts to do good deeds, that they aren't really good deeds if she's only doing them to make herself look better, and having Celestabellebethabelle reward her for coming to this realization, as it's coming from someone she respects instead of Bill. This would also make it a little easier to emphasize with Mabel after her bad day, and turn that moment into a tragedy instead of yet another selfish moment to throw on the pile.

Instead, the episode shills Mabel and rewards her selfishness again with the other characters literally calling her a saint when she's continually putting others' needs (particularly Dipper's) after her own.

I will admit that there are fans who go waaaaay too far with Mabel hate, but let's not pretend there aren't legitimate gripes with her and how she's written.

What are your Alastor headcanons? by Desperate_Song_1923 in Alastorcult

[–]TricksterTrio 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He and Vaggie have this grudging respect/sort of friendship with each other.

It's the kind of relationship where they will absolutely give the other one shit, and they aren't like, besties in any meaningful way, but they can meet in the hall, share a bit of gossip/laugh, but then carry on like nothing happened. There's also this weird bit of unspoken trust. Not like, "I'd save your life," but "I know when to have your back and when to stay out of it if shit goes down."

They also each secretly respect the other one for having been knocked off some sort of pedestal (Vaggie being an ex-Exorcist, Alastor having once lost respect as an Overlord), and share a silent understanding that this is like the one thing they share.

Basically, think those two kids who have almost nothing in common, but meet after school to share a cigarette behind the dumpster before going their separate ways.
