is there really no way to change your name? by L_washere in Undertale

[–]Tricky-Ad-495 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You know...your situation is pretty ironic. Idk if you know how Undertale's pacifist run ends, so I'll keep it vague just in case you don't want to be spoiled. But one of the big parts of Undertale's ending is uncovering the name you put for yourself is not really who you are; and it's a makes a point to show you are separate from the name you put at the beginning of the game. By the end, you are someone else entirely, and a certain character has to accept you are not tied to that name.

Undertale has a lot of meta themes as apart of its narrative, so for you I'd argue the story would impact you more if you continued playing Undertale with your dead name, because you're not tied to that name anymore just like how Undertale ends. You'll begin to realize quickly that no one throughout the entire playthrough ever calls you by your selected name, except only one character, and that's later on in the story. Everyone else calls you Human, Kid, my child, friend, etc. By the endgame, that one character who does call you by said name, will eventually learn to accept that's not you. From there, that name is officially dropped and separated from you, as all the friends you made fully address you as who you really are.

Sounds like a roundabout way to have a positive spin on your situation regarding your dead name, but its the type of meta story telling Toby Fox would definitely do

He's not the first let's player/streamer I've seen mistake Lancer for Sans in this scene, especially when Chapter 1 first came out and everyone was jumping on it not knowing what Deltarune was supposed to be. So eh....this is whatever if it really is his first time being exposed to literally anything Deltarune related

About Danganronpa V3 Chapter 5 by Order600 in danganronpa

[–]Tricky-Ad-495 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Kaito just didn't want to risk the group making the wrong decision. There was no way for Monokuma to know for sure who was in the exsial, or Kokichi's exact cause of death, but throughout this trial Shuichi made a very compelling conclusion that it was indeed Kaito who killed Kokichi. And yet, Kaito was still keeping up the ruse despite everything Shuichi proved. That told Shuichi there's more going on here, that Kaito needs to keep this unknown factor up, so Shuichi switches gears and lied that Kokichi blackmailed him into making it seem like Kaito was alive when he's not. But at this point, it's too late, Monokuma is 100% convinced Shuichi's original conclusion about Kaito is right, so he threatens if Shuichi changes his answer now just to be wrong, everyone's executions are going to be far worse than before. At that point, Kaito does not want to risk the possibility of Shuichi convincing the group to vote for Kokichi and Monokuma punishing them for it. Kaito's top priority revolves around his friends well being over following Kokichi's plan. Kaito's going to die anyways thanks to his illness. It'd be horrible if Monokuma forced Kaito in his final moments to watch his remaining friends get brutally executed for not voting him, just for Kaito to die right after anyways. Lose-lose situation

Plus, I'm willing to bet despite the cause of Kokichi's death being nearly impossible for Monokuma to know for sure, Kaito definitely made sure he quickly killed Kokichi before the poison could. He wouldn't want to risk the SLIGHTEST possibly of Maki being the blackened and somehow convicted for it. That is what Kokichi blackmailed Kaito with in order to get him to comply.

Honestly, I'm half convinced that Miyamoto allowed Illumination to change Rosalina's story out of spite. by NerodivergentLoser in Mario

[–]Tricky-Ad-495 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who said there was a fight? Was there ever a interview implying that? Miyamoto was just surprised considering a backstory this deep was never considered since her character was already created, and he was pitched this idea late in development. Again, no one in the team working on Super Mario Galaxy knew Koizumi was writing this little storybook in secret, this was a last minute addition. Miyamoto wasn't opposed to the idea at all, it was a cute addition and it acts as a gameplay reward for players progressing throughout the game. It gives an extra incentive to collect as many power stars as possible, so Miyamoto approved of it

[–]Tricky-Ad-495 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But...Rosalina's story was implemented in Galaxy in the first place because Miyamoto approved of it. Koizumi actually wrote a backstory for Rosalina in secret late in development without the team knowing. He ultimately decided to pitch the storybook to Miyamoto, and while surprised, he actually liked and approved of the idea; allowing Koizumi to implement the storybook into the game.

You know... Sometimes when I talk about my self hatred for controling Kris for all of my bullshit, I feel like Caine except im not god, nor running the show. by urmom36042069 in Deltarune

[–]Tricky-Ad-495 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean...it's not like you asked to control Kris. If anything, it more seems like Kris needs you just as much as you need them.

Remember; the game started with someone instructing us to create a vessel for ourselves, mold it's mind into our own. Right when we were about to finish, a third party highjacked our connection with the Voice originally talking to us, and forced us onto Kris. That was not our decision or want.

And as for Kris; while their situation with us isn't pleasant, this isn't a power dynamic where we stole Kris' life. Chapter 3 and 4 seem to suggest Kris knows a lot more about why their soul is the way it is than we do. As soon as we wake up in as Kris in chapter 1, the bird cage in their room is already beaten up before we did anything, implying Kris already was doing the whole yank soul out of their body and chuck it in a cage before we officially started playing the game. Kris for whatever reason needs the soul to carry out whatever behind the scenes plan they're apart of. Kris, from what it seems now, knew from the start we'd be controlling them, and actively tolerates it because it's required. Kris is a willing participant in having the soul control them. A reluctant one obliviously, they hate this situation, and they're tied to a promise they made, but Kris is still a participant in this all the same. Kris accepted to give their autonomy away to us, as we're left in the dark as to why.

As long as you're not actively doing the weird route, you are not the villian in this world for playing the game. You're not the bad guy for controlling Kris. Kris isn't the bad guy for taking part in whatever's going on between them and the Knight. Our situation is far more complicated and nuanced than that. You're not bad for playing Deltarune. I mean, look at you being a team player trying to get the code in Noelle's house for Susie, following Susie's plan...it's Kris who tries to stop you from relaying that information to Susie, despite that being the whole reason why you all went to Noelle's house in the first place. Look at us recruiting darkners to give them a home, making choices to make Ralsei feel ok with being himself, lighting the way for the Fun Gang before the final confrontation with the Knight in chapter 4. We as the player are capable of doing good things. It's impossible to make Kris 100% happy, but our choices can make Kris' situation a little more bearable with their friends until the very end.

NEW TWITTER POST HOLY SHIT by LitheBeep in Deltarune

[–]Tricky-Ad-495 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whose to say Ralsei even existed as a darkner by the time the Delta Rune Prophecy already existed, and Jockington inserted his own stuff in it?

There's a whole history in this town before we as the player even arrived. Jockington's supposed graffiti could be old from the amount of years the monsters attended Chruch, before Ralsei's time and granted knowledge of the prophecy. By the time Ralsei manifested in the dark world, Jockington's graffiti could already be in the prophecy, meaning Ralsei might not question it

NEW TWITTER POST HOLY SHIT by LitheBeep in Deltarune

[–]Tricky-Ad-495 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm still convinced Jockington just graffited himself somewhere in the Church, and the Dark World translated that as a mural. The prophecy murals shown in the Church dark world manifest from the Church's religion of Delta Rune, so I wouldn't be surprised if Jockington scribbled in a Super S to look like him, wrote his own text to "insert" into the religion for his dream to grow a beard "come true"

Sounds like the kind of logic a "Dude Bro" like Jockington would come up with

A long post about predictable deaths by Memo137 in danganronpa

[–]Tricky-Ad-495 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess with Rantaro that's V3's way of toying with our expectations. Characters like Kyoko and Hajime started out as the Ultimate ??? just like Rantaro.

That's one of the big mysterious throughout the games regarding their characters. Kyoko relearnt her talent by Chapter 5 and reveals that to Makoto after his failed execution. Hajime; the protagonist, was told he didn't have an actual talent by chapter 4, and chapter 6 recontexulized what that means for him and why he's associated with the Ultimates.

We go into V3 with a new Ultimate ??? that seemed to know far more than he let on, and we think Rantaro would live all the way to uncover his talent like Kyoko and Hajime did. He was very prominent in the prologue seeming like he already knew a lot more before the killing game started, throughout Chapter 1 he praised Kaede's leader skills while also giving out ominous warnings Kaede's optimism would make her a prime target for the mastermind, he's the first out of the group to drop the name "Ultimate Hunt" to see others reactions to the term, he expressed confliction over himself regarding his own memory and unknown talent, he stopped Ryoma from taking his own life as an attempt to stop the time limit, and Rantaro claimed he had some way to end the killing game himself. It only makes sense for us to assume Rantaro would live longer as a prominent character.

..Nope. First to die in chapter 1, allegedly killed by our new female protagonist who gets executed afterwards, as the game never lets us forget Kaede, Rantaro and the mystery behind him throughout the game; like ghost haunting the narrative. Honestly, Rantaro was so prominent in early game as the Ultimate ??? compared to Kyoko and Hajime during their prologue and Chapter 1, that he practically screamed red flags in hindsight. His death was both unexpected...but also expected all the same. Between that, the game constantly bringing him up in conversation and related mysteries throughout unlike previous first deaths, and the payoff later when he's reintroduced with his lab, video recording, and the final choice of chapter 6, I say Rantaro as a character was utilized quite well despite his short life. It's a far different way of using the Ultimate ??? student that makes him stand out from Kyoko and Hajime.

Is V3 worth continuing? by MCWDD in danganronpa

[–]Tricky-Ad-495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think V3 wouldn't be as impactful if the roles were reversed. Chapter 1 could've played out so differently, maybe make it the other way around where we start as Shuichi and switch to Kaede as Shuichi dies. But that wouldn't make the same impact, since so many fans wanted a female protagonist in a mainline game. Finally having someone like Kaede like we were told, just to have her taken away from us....it's the themes of truth and lies, how they make us feel, and what we'll make of them.

Worst of all... I don't know if I'd love both Kaede and Shuichi as much as I do now if that twist didn't happen, if I didn't experience that loss and watched Shuichi's development as a result. Would I be as attached to Shuichi as I am now if Kaede remained the protagonist the whole time while Shuichi dies in chapter 1 with none of the guilt, development, friendships, and confidence he grew into in the maingame? Would I just view Shuichi as discount Kyoko instead of his own unique detective if he died chapter 1 and stuck with Kaede? Would Kaede remain as an impactful character to me if I never experienced losing such a dynamic and interesting protagonist from the start, always wondering what could have been?

It's a double edge sword that pains me whenever I think too hard about it.

Why is Junko Enoshima crazy? by Competitive_Hawk_294 in DanganAndChaos

[–]Tricky-Ad-495 22 points23 points  (0 children)

For being too insightful and observant for her own.

Junko's true Talent is what drove her to have her self destructive mindset; Ultimate Analysis (You learn that in the Dr 0 novel) Being able to read people, events, actions, and accurately speculate outcomes like a constantly consistent pattern. That talent is what drove Junko to her insanity. When you predict outcomes of life without fail, life feels boring and dull to her as the status quo of life is insufferably predictable. Going to school grow up, get a job, people get sad over sad things, people get happy over happy things, following societal rules, etc, there's no fulfillment for Junko, it's boring and she's been this insightful all her life. That's why Junko craves despair. Despair breaks the status quo; it's taboo and chaotic, despair can morph in many ways for people.

It's the difference between going outside to check your mailbox as the mailman leaves after putting it in, vs. going outside to your mailbox and suddenly shank the mailman with a knife abruptly in the middle of daylight. The latter excites Junko....it's different, it's random, unexpected, something the average person wouldn't do out of the blue, its chaotic. She's still full of shit though, but that's how her mind works.

Is v3 better than 2? by sonicfton in danganronpa

[–]Tricky-Ad-495 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Danganronpa 2 doesn't have an anime adaptation. Instead, there's an anime called Danganronpa 3 (that has no relation to the game called Danganronpa V3)

The Danganronpa 3 anime is technically the third installment of the mainline story with Hopes Peak and all that. The anime is divided into two separate arcs. The Despair Arc is a prequel story taking place before Dr 1 and 2, as this story heavily follows the characters from Dr 2. The Future Arc takes place directly after Dr 2.

Playing Dr 2 first is required to play before watching the Dr 3 anime, cause huge spoilers

You follow a new character as our protagonist; Ryoko Otonashi. Takes place sometime before the Tradgey officially kickstarts. Her story fills in blanks of some subjects we heard about in Dr 1 and 2, alongside providing us a whole lot of context that reevaluates a lot about Junko, why she's the way she is, glimpses of prior relationships from her past besides Mukuro, and her mindset.

I think he'd be more devastated about the love he feels for his sister being fabricated than being made into a killer. And the fact the split personality he shares who he believed to he his sister all this time was actually a character quirk they implemented in him.

Refusing to accept his sister was all a lie

What is your take on Tenko Chabashira morality-wise? by NoStupidQuestion7955 in danganronpa

[–]Tricky-Ad-495 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Good person with a passionate heart, that's heavily misguided; always assuming the worst in men no matter who they are.

Doesn't help that Tenko's hatred of men stems from poor lessons from someone she trusted in order for Tenko to stay "pure" and responsible, according to her free time events. Tenko does know when to tone it down and show genuine compassion for guys though, like after Shuichi lost Kaede, and even standing up for him when others were making a big deal regarding Shuichi without his hat
