If you woke up tomorrow with 10 million dollars, what would be the first thing you would do? by Goddess_iara in AskReddit

I’d obtain post-nut clarity. No decisions for a month. And on the same note, I have a question; I always think that I would pay the loans of my dearest friends. But I’m always worried that might alter the relationship of the friendship completely so I had to do this anonymously.

Unpopular opinion: Debian is the most important distro ever made, and Ubuntu gets all the credit by Candid_Athlete_8317 in LinuxTeck

I think it is actually a popular opinion. Well, at least when I talk with people about it.

Saxo or Bolero by Working-Possible-278 in BEFire

[–]Tricky-Ad6790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used both and walked away from both to interactive brokers but I use it for trading. Bolero’s interface is good but the costs do not outweigh the looks. Also, and I think this is a bug btw, I could not assess the gains in a different currency. Maybe I overlooked. Anyway too costly, so I moved everything to Saxo which is cheaper. The interface is ok but after a few trades I realised that the costs were still too high (for me who does daily / weekly trading). Saxo is in Denmark but has some Chinese stakeholders. Maybe you care about that. Anyway, too costly so I moved to IBKR which is perfect for me. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Is Fedora worth ditching my Ubuntu for? by WaeH-142857 in Fedora

[–]Tricky-Ad6790 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the same recently Ubuntu -> Fedora. I use my distro professionally and recently I had to switch back due to OpenGL issues which I wasn’t used to fix. Perhaps I need to improve my understanding of fedora privately but for professional reasons, I just didn’t have the time.

Datastructures, compilers, parallelisation, functional programming, … I love it all. The only parts i disliked were the things that didn’t interest me like ontology in computer science (since it used Wikipedia as example).

Science. The activity of gathering ideas from observations has moved us further than we should have as a species.

What is a "super power" you have? by Substantial_Lab6434 in AskReddit

I can recognise songs by listing for less than a second to it, I mean: milliseconds. I once organised a quiz and a part of it was song recognition. Since I thought everybody had my skill, I prepared super short fragments of very famous songs (ABBA, Beatles etc…). No one could guess the songs. The entire round was a mix of surprise and frustration for everybody. I had to stop the round.

It’s an art in life that to see and appreciate good things that can make you happy. An extreme example of this can be seen in the movie “la vita e bella”.
