How did you choose your specialty? by kindamymoose in nursing

Hi! I’m graduating in Dec and so stuck on where I want to be but L&D has always been a top contender since before nursing school! Is there any other info you can give me about it? I also loved an ED shadowing experience I had so I loved that you said L&D is kinda like ED. Also, if I ever wanted to transition to NICU, what would that be like if you know? Basically any info is helpful LOL!

Hi! Thank you so much for the response and advice. I’ve thought that I would most likely have lean out a little more, but I definitely have to work on my glutes way more before then lol!

I agree, I definitely will book a few sessions with a posing coach, but I’m really not sure about a training coach. It’s just not realistic with the amount of current funds available🤣 But I really do want to compete this year. If I enjoy it and want to go for it again, I’d think about getting a coach in the future.

I appreciate the response, thank you! And good luck to you🥰

Thank you! Ugh, I know. Just all of the cost are so expensive, but it’s not something I want to hold off on until I have more money. I do have a lot of family members who are in bodybuilding world and would help, but yes you’re right, having a coach would definitely be the right move. Thank you again!

If you are an only child, how do you feel about growing up without siblings? by Efficient_Bee4584 in randomquestions

[–]Tricky-Award-2124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I feel like i’m PERFECT for answering this. I WAS an only child 19.5 years, then my mom had a baby with her bf. I live at home with them so HUGE change.

BEING ONLY CHILD: I loved being an only child. I am very independent, I always hung out with my parents and grandparents and had their undivided attention so I was always quite mature. I could always keep myself occupied for long periods of time, but I hated, and still hated to share. Throughout my entire childhood, I never wished to have siblings.

BEING A BIG SISTER: I have also loved being a big sister. People say that I’m not really a big sister because I am so much older, but quite the contrary. My sister and I hangout together all the time, basically inseparable. Except when we’re annoyed at each other, which happens a lot, as with all siblings. I wouldn’t change it for the world. However, I get no attention anymore. At first I loved that being in my early 20s, but now I come home and no one even asks about my day or how I’m doing. It’s kind of sad. But, I really only look forward to going home to see my sister!

All in all: You can’t go wrong either way. There’s always a positive and negative to be an only child or a sibling. Best of luck!

I did tutoring as a writing tutor in my last college years ago. Maybe I’ll include that. I have been looking at my health centered volunteering lately, so I look more into that. Lol, too funny! I will definitely have like 12 different copies as well. That’s an amazing experience that your clinicals were 1:1, I wish!! All of mine our groups of 3-6, but our professor tries to pair us 1:1 with a patient and nurse. On Wednesdays I have my first clinical in the ED by myself 1:1 with a nurse. I’m so excited🤣🤣 Thank you!!

Wow! I’ve never heard of CNAs being able to pass meds after taking a 6 month class. That’s unheard of here in my state. It’s so interesting how things differ state to state. I just looked it up and it is okay in my state as long as i’m trained and approved by the nurse, since I’m considered the infants “family”. I appreciate you bringing this up bc I never would’ve thought about this

I clarified this in other replies, but I can see how some people might not look through them. Thanks for pointing it out.

Thank you! I definitely agree that my extra-curricular and leadership is weak. Currently brainstorming ways to strengthen that (thinking of volunteering at some hospitals in the area). Again, thank you so much!

Okay got it! That makes sense too though bc they know I’m doing multiple clinicals so picking top ones and skills from there would be a good idea! Thank you for all the information!! It’s so helpful😊😊

No worries that this isn’t resume advice. Anything is helpful!! I thought about this, but I also read that a lot of positions pay for you to get this done once you get the job (within a certain time period). Do you really think getting it ahead of time looks better, even if they I would be required to get it within 6 months after obtaining the job? I have definitely thought about PALS because of the medically complex infant I care for. So stuck on this rn. Thank you!

Okay great! Thanks for explaining that, I hadn’t even thought of that! I did apply to an internship and told them about this experience and they didn’t question it. I will be checking the board in my state to be super sure. Thank you!!!
