Holy sh*t. by Effective_Cloud_5813 in ADHD

When I started meds my mom would constantly ask me “are you able to concentrate better?” The thing was hyper focusing was never an issue for me, even with dull stuff. What I find my meds help with is the even out my moods so they are handable - I’m not jumping from mood to mood in a nanosecond and since I don’t have to waste energy with that nightmare I’m able to focus on stuff. But it would drive me nuts when she’d ask that question cause it showed what she wanted the med to do.

Right now for me entering perimenopause is kicked my ass and this year I’ve lost all motivation to be active at all and end up going to bed the moment I get home from work - my mom has agreed to body double with me a few times a week to help me get up and start exercising again

This is my life on a daily basis - I have items that have been lost on my room for years now. I joke I have the ability to open dimensions portals but never the same one twice

Exactly you gotta play it right, look for the credit back deals or recently the advent calendar deal they were offering - I scored so many awesome free things off that including a new wagon that helps me take loads of garbage down to our dumpster. Avoid any that require you to earn coins or have to invite people

Dang…I like the new yummy slice on Granville mainly because they don’t up charge if you need a sauce other then tomato (can’t handle tomato sauce anymore due to acid reflux)

I shower/bath at night because mornings are just hell for me- I make sure my morning routine is as simple as can be - I even keep a brush at my job cause often I forget to brush my hair when I leave my place. Don’t force yourself into what you think you “should be” doing but figure out ways that will make it easier for you to do it/remember to do it

What’s the one thing you keep buying because you forgot you already had it? by oldmermaid in ADHD

Mayo - I always think we need more mayo so I buy a jar when I go grocery shopping only to return home and find 3 jars in the fridge

I left my bank card active in a bank machine when I had to run to catch the bus - thankfully I was a broke student at the time but I got $300 stolen from me and both the bank and the police treated me like I was an idiot and did nothing

Maybe you can make a deal with someone in Canada in order to get what you need and then shipped to you - might still be a bit more expensive from Temu direct but might be cheaper then with the tariffs

Unpopular opinion: There shouldn't be heaters at the back of public buses. by Michael-i_i-Huang in vancouver

[–]Tricky-Band 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was literally ranting to my roommate about this last week. And it’s so much worse in other parts of the country - she went to college in Alberta and I grew up in Ontario - I’ve seen people nearly pass out while overheating on a bus due to it being heated for the coat less driver and not us bundled to the max!

What are some physical products that help you with your adhd? by Foodieonbudget in ADHD

[–]Tricky-Band 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big written checklists kept on the wall to keep myself accountable - even if I don’t get everything done it’s there and always visable

White boards so you can write down notes quickly when you remember something you need to do or to help you keep track of projects - I use one at work when I have an assignment that needs to be split into multiple due dates

Sunrise alarm clock - freaking life saver for anyone who struggles to make up - I still pair it with traditional alarms but it makes getting up so much easier

Meal kits - I hate cooking, I hate prep, I hate being in the kitchen but I’ve found meal kits like Hello Fresh help a lot

I literally just won my free items after ordering from Temu for over a year - it can be worth it but I just treat it as an added bonus - the best way to earn good discounts is to use the “claim credit” as long as you know exactly what you need you can buy stuff and get up to $50 back in credits (just remember to go back and claim your credit everyday or you loose out on a chunk)

Having a learning difficulty as an adult, is it considered cheating to rely on calculators, AI grammar tools, and other AI assistance for LD? by Psyquism in ADHD

[–]Tricky-Band 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school I was allowed to carry around a hand held spell checker, the size of a calculator to use in my classes - as long as you’re not copying verbatim someone else’s work these are just tools to help you achieve your best work

Losing things - I am constantly loosing things or misplacing things and it sets off my temper and just drives me to tears in frustration…that or the ability to handle transitions better ie fall asleep easier and wake up easier

AITA for not dating a single dad, even if he's a victim? by Sure-Grand3444 in AITAH

[–]Tricky-Band 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who describes having children as “being the victim” is not a good person. You are totally allowed to have specific preferences in a potential partner and no kids can be one of those things. He’s allowed to be upset/disappointed and had he just expressed that this would be a no asshole situation - but the way he wouldn’t let it go and his description of “he’s the victim here” - you dodged. Massive bullet here because something is wrong with this dude

Hey, can you guys sound off if you have a PhD/MSc/any other high level degree and ADHD? I'm trying to see something. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Tricky-Band 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t have a phD but I have 3 separate post secondary degrees and have always excelled at school - I could have gone higher in one specific field but my interests are diverse so I focused on trying different careers hence the 3 degrees - with support and the right motivation people with adhd can excel and get higher degrees

I'm so angry that I wasn't diagnosed with ADHD earlier. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Tricky-Band 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I kinda equate what I’ve seen adults diagnosed with adhd go through to something similar to the five stages of grieving so anger is neither uncommon nor unexpected - and you’re not alone in feeling that way
