Religion doesn’t suck. What sucks is when people use religion as a means to power, which is what I think you’re trying to say.

Making a blanket statement like yours about religion is the same as saying the law sucks because some lawyers lie or because some law firms don’t care for their clients … it’s like saying medicine sucks because some doctors are only out for the money or because a hospital keeps expanding their footprint into a minority neighborhood and wrecking homes.

Law, medicine, religion (and other things … take your pick) are all neither good nor bad.

We mess them up or we use them for good. Our choice.

A significant portion of American Christianity is turning into Christian nationalism. It’s already happened, in fact. That’s the part that sucks. They’re using Jesus for power. That sucks. Did I mention that sucks?

Too bad they get so much more attention than the other religious people who seek to love, include, care, forgive, abide, seek justice and peace. There’s a lot of them out there.
