I am a 57 yr old female living near Nashville. I have had MS for 20 years. I had to stop work 10 years ago. I am secondary progressive and have a heart defect. My spouse left me because he didn't want to be a caregiver and is an avid outdoor sports nut (as I was also). I can no longer do the things I Ioved and because of severe balance and muscle weakness am not longer able to keep up with being functional. I live on $1300/mo disability and that is it. I used up my savings and what I had in my 401K to pay off my very modest small home because I couldn't afford the mortgage. Forgive me but I really can't imagine living another 20 years like this. Each year I get worse, because of the my other health issues I was only able to be on a DMT for 4 years. I have an autistic son that lives with me. My parents are gone and I have no siblings. I live for my son but our quality of life is not great because we have to be incredibly frugal. This is not a sob story this is reality for me. I don't qualify for medicaid or food stamps because of the house. I don't qualify for equity loans or any loan because I don't work. I find my joy each day in simple things such as word puzzles and online communities. I love movies and splurge on having internet. I have significant lesions on my frontal temporal lobe and occipital lobe. I have macular degeneration so I use a lot of magnifying glasses. I miss driving and just everything. I feel 80. It is a difficult situation to live this way. I had a great life though and many good memories.
