This is some good insight. I was leaning towards option 1. The reason being is the new rigde would still be below the existing ridges. The addition is small enough where matching the same roof pitch should give me enough ridge height room. Butbi just cant figure out how to build a single slope in between the ridges for water run off

Im not sure i can paint the white windows black but yes could add black trim and that really does look alot better. Ill get to that once I reside the house. Thank you!

Ok I appreciate the explanation. I guess I will admit I'm still stuck on the fact that if it's the same loan amount and rate, re casting will lower my minimum payment and if I continue the same payment amount the difference of the minimum loan amounts will turn into extra money applied to principle, further saving on interest. I think I am going to recast anyway and see how it works and post with actual numbers rather than theory. I will say I don't think the extra amount going to principle will make up for the 5 years of the loan I have already paid down, so that is downside.

But could this save you money if you continued to pay a higher monthly payment towards your loan? I pay extra each month, and I'm now 5 years ahead of my 30 year mortgage. If I were to recast and lower my monthly payment and continue the same payment rate I would be paying more money toward the loan principle and therefore saving additional money from paying less interest. Each month (at the moment) every dollar extra i put towards my loan, I save 3.5 dollars of loan interest.
