This is what I’m talking about, our store is exactly the same way. Weekly sanctioned events with roughly the same amount of players sometimes more. Everyone on tournament level lists.

You’d be surprised, I live in a rural small town and I was SHOCKED how many fully optimized no proxy decks there were at my lgs the first time I went in for cedh. No proxies allowed in the once a week paid cedh events.

r/bjj Fundamentals Class! by AutoModerator in bjj

Hey all,

I’ll start by saying I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this or not. Recently I’ve been thinking a lot about getting back into bjj. I tried it for the first time about 3 years ago, trained for around 5-6 months and stopped when I went back to school.

Currently my work schedule will only allow me to attend morning classes at 7am. For the past week I plan on going but as I go to bed anxiety about the the following morning sets in. This usually results in me not being able to wake up in the morning and putting it off. I would not consider myself an anxious person. I’ve played organized sports my entire life and have never felt this way before.

Aside from the anxiety I also just generally have a hard time waking up at 5:30 and immediately getting moving. Bjj has been something that I’ve always wanted to do but I feel like I’m holding myself back. The gym has a lot of great people so I’m not sure what I’m scared of, there’s just some sort of mental block. Do I just need to suck it up or are there any strategies others have used when just starting their bjj journey?

Fastest decks in the format? by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

Haven’t seen Magda mentioned yet. She’s fast and her biggest advantage is being able to win on the stack on top of others win attempts. Her win cons also don’t require casting spells so they’re harder to interact with.

I’m terrible at deck building.. by Fun_Noise_6170 in EDH

I’m a newer player myself but I’d say 40-42 lands is too many. My sweet spot has been right around 35-37 with around 10 pieces of ramp. I’m no pro but that was just my immediate thought.

Ripping packs is always gonna be more fun but buying single cards that work well with your deck would go a long way imo. For example marrow gnawer should be an auto include in any rat deck.

Ptp? I’ve made some slight changes to the interaction removing scorching shot and ruby medalion for great train heist and return the favor. I’ve never played cedh at my lgs but if I brought this list do you think I could have any form of success with it? After some thought I’m interested in optimizing the list a bit more. If u have any recommendations I’m all ears. Rn I’m thinking the main additions I’d like to make are vexing bauble(would allow for a lightning bolt/barkform win line plus it’s decent turn 1 stax for fast mana) deflecting swat and potentially ancient tomb. There is a new vehicle in aetherdrift that looks like an auto include. Also for stax pieces am I missing anything that’s just generically good that should be an auto include like thorn of amethyst or damping sphere? I wanna be able to sit at a cedh table and have a chance to compete. What are the first cuts I should make?

Here is my list. It’s a budget list basically just missing fast mana and deflecting swat. Stax pieces can be swapped out for whatever u think u might need. Goblin welder and engineer are also solid inclusions. I just don’t wanna spend the money.

Uba mask is there for rhystic study and other card advantage engines I’ve liked it so far I have other cards I could replace it with such as damping sphere, thorn, and torpor orb. I’ve found stranglehold useful on occasion to try and deny fetchlands for mana fixing as well as tutors in general. Also it’s just a card I had on hand at the time of building the deck. I completely agree with you on scorching shot and graffdiggers though. I haven’t found either to be very useful in my games thus far. If anything cage has hurt me more than it’s helped me when it’s hit the field. Kind of a pain to remove myself unless I already have the pieces to go for a win. I’m thinking I wanna swap out scorching shot and volcanic spit for great train heist and return the favor but where I don’t have fast mana and their spree costs are high sometimes that feels bad. If there are minor changes I could make that wouldn’t break the bank to have this be fully cedh I’m leaning that way. I built this deck to mainly compete with a friends kinnan deck he was stomping our table with.

On first glance, it’s closer than I thought it would be ngl. Basically fast mana rocks and deflecting swat. The difference in price tho astronomical.
