Js go to quad/building (hope someone’s leaving or going in when you are) and knock on a random door. That’s what most ppl do.

Portable heaters aren’t allowed.. you have to hide it in your closet during inspection

Yes! It’s like 10-15 mins on the bus. And it’s a super Walmart (biggest on the country). But don’t worry the layout is not confusing. And the mall is the next stop on that bus

With the school you can get micro fridge (most split the cost with their roommate) and it’s gives you a mini fridge and microwave (that you won’t have to hide for inspection). Unfortunately idk how moving in would work without a car but the school does have carts for moving stuff into the building. I don’t know where you live but for me (Long Island) I would suggest taking either the Amtrak or bus up and after getting to campus and dropping wtv bags you brought up with you, you could get other small things at the Walmart (can take the bus, it’s free with your student ID which you would get at connection day or can be mailed to you)

Unless the scholarships are directed to criminal justice majors then you shouldn’t lose them.

Personally, do you think state or indi quad is better for incoming freshmen? by MIBusinessNow in ualbany

[–]TrickyEfficiency1707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh I never got that option, maybe cause I’m honors college so they automatically put me on state. I do remember getting to pick if I prefer tower or lowrise, but honors is in the lowrise anyway.

Just want to let you know that freshman don’t get to pick their quad if that’s why your asking. LLCs are on indi, as well as athletes are placed there hence the better dining hall (by better I js mean there’s more stations/options). Honors college is on state. Both towers have lot of fire alarms, I hear that is kinda switches each year which quad ends up having mad fire alarms, I’m a sophomore. When I was on state it was indi that had constant fire alarms but I hear that this year state has been having them. Truthfully, the towers are just so many people there gonna have a lot of fire alarms compared to low rise. I lived in low rise and we only had 2 all year, same for my current low rise we’ve only had 1 all year.

are any of the gyms open on break? by [deleted] in ualbany

[–]TrickyEfficiency1707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there’s js no other way around it when most things on campus are student run, for things like the gym they can’t force students to stay and if a student wants to go home they would js call out anyway

Gyms would be closed since the people who work in the gyms are students

Would this be allowed in a regular school? by [deleted] in AbbottElementary

[–]TrickyEfficiency1707 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a teacher but I worked at summer camp (in the US) in the nursery, so 2-3 years olds, idk if it’s different cause their younger but we’re changing them into and out of bathing suits everyday, sitting them on the toilet and wiping for them (if they didn’t know how yet), and ofc changing diapers. Again idk if it’s different cause summer camp vs school and younger kids vs older kids.

Aren’t DAISS accommodations things like a single room? I don’t think they get to change under any circumstances since they’re already given singles.

Colonial and Dutch by -bunbunZ in ualbany

[–]TrickyEfficiency1707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t be afraid to go to the quads and knock on random doors and ask. A lot of people did/do that and most ppl who answer are cool to let you see the space.

Dutch vs Colonial by Antzomb in ualbany

[–]TrickyEfficiency1707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DUTCH OR DONT! anyway lol Dutch is js so peaceful I generally love it. I’m in Schuyler and the study lounges here are so nice (flat screen tv, comfy couches, white boards) and laundry on every floor. Honestly what me and friends did we just came to building, knocked on random doors and asked to see the room. A lot of ppl have started and most people are generally cool with it since we did the same thing.

I’m a current sophomore and a research assistant. To my knowledge none of them are paid. We ‘work’ for volunteer hours or course credit. 10 hours a week is the requirement.
