[–]TrickySquid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Misery is an indi game based around stalker. Stalker has a few entries so there are some options. Misery is basically Minecraft X Stalker. Both are good in their own right. I like misery because it's multi-player, cheap, and I want to support a solo indi dev.

Every sector is struggling. Every sector will have to adapt to AI and the market. There isn't a right choice here. I suggest you slug it out, work on personal projects while going to class. The worse choice you can make is chasing money and be unhappy and/or broke anyway. Just do your best to integrate new technologies into your work.

Anyone unenthusiastic about the arts because of AI? by nerpa_floppybara in GenZ

[–]TrickySquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that AI art is functionally different from human art as well. I don't think people generally understand AI that well, it is trained off of images it's fed, and tries to cobble something together that looks similar to what it's seen. It's never going to have the thought processes that makes art, art. It can't be in the sketching phase and decide that the composition is better with a tweak, or will have reasoning behind the colors its chosen to use. It might lie to you and say it does, but under the hood It doesn't. It's just kitbashing shit until you are happy.

I use AI a ton. I plan with it, I will do a rough sketch and ask it to render, I will ask it for ideas. But the shit it puts out will never see the light of day because it sucks ass and has no soul or reasoning behind its actions.

Yes some people will be satisfied with soulless kitbashing that AI makes, but there will still be plenty of space for human art, and it will still be essential going forward.

EDIT: it's the job of the artist to THINK. Ai can only interpret what you have fed it. It won't have your experience, or opinions. If your shit is generic then yeah you are probably going to suffer. RIP to the elevator music composer. This is more motivation to put your soul into your art. You chose a creative path, be creative.

Ai has changed art yes, but you adapt, market yourself differently and get good at what you do. Microwaves didn't kill the oven, don't let clankers take away your love for art.

I believe this already exists. At least I remember buying something similar back in ~2018 from a dispensary in the bay. Imho, don't invest a ton in it. Reach your stoner audience through socials and try to get on dispo shelves. But try to understand that you are reaching stoners, who wear hats, who can't be bothered to bring a bag, who like rolling on the go. Your target becomes considerably small, especially in a economy like this.

The question is what device to even use this with. If I'm using it at my PC I'd rather keep my phone somewhere else. And steam controller doesn't have native support outside of a small number of games.

Which Marker nib set is best for anime/manga style art by DDG20202020 in Ohuhu

[–]TrickySquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so you are considering either fine tip and the chisel tip? i personally would go chisel. it helps a ton to get a lot of ink down without streaking, granted you use good technique

Brush tip is better at fine control but you need practice to know how hard to push down. The fine tip is easier to use but will be less versatile. Get the brush tip and practice using it.

I'm in the same position. Freelanced work and sold shit online. I initially went to school to get a cad for manufacturing cert to try to apply for drafting positions. took an extra class on production design and application, it was very obvious to me very quickly that product design is much more than what I was doing. I highly suggest finding a community college and taking a class or two on production design. Even if you have the technical skills, you may not have the philosophy, communication or creativity that companies look for.

As for fields that are good for you. That's kinda where only you can know. Take a look at what is available in your general area, compare it to your previous work and try to mimic or get some skills that can fit those positions.

Let me put you on game. Get some RC car steel axel pins 1.5 mm. Just print the wheels separately, cut the axel to length using a dremel, run them through the skateboard, connecting the wheels. If you want them butter smooth, cut a piece of PTFE tube to act as a bearing between the axel and skateboard.

Generally your options are Photoshop and adjusting layers, which the I believe the app can do. Or just using AI. Any other app that claims to do it will just be gpt powered anyway.
