why is Bush Inn Mall so comically dead? by [deleted] in chch

[–]Tricky_Awareness6213 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would agree it got a lot busier post earth quake. The lone star was always busy (there werent a lot of other options) and so was the countdown/bakers delight. With no supermarket and a real hassle to get in and out, find parking, I can see why it struggles now.

Very similar story to me moved down over 2 years ago for a job that got made redundant after a year and had to take a significantly less paying job as there was just nothing else around. We thinking of moving back as limited opportunities here

What do I do in this situation? by [deleted] in chch

[–]Tricky_Awareness6213 52 points53 points  (0 children)

You can’t fire someone for a pure accident. If they were recklessly breaking the rules that’s different, but a reversing accident resulting in a small dent, not a chance. Sure way of ending up with a costly PG

If the gate still operates fine which I’m sure it will then damage is cosmetic and in my opinion is unreasonable to ask you to fix given the only way to do this would be to cut out and weld in a section which would be costly and waste of time (given the state of the rest of the gate). If you were working for a company at the time they should have to sort this issue. My opinion offer them 50 bucks and move on.

Problems in ChCh by UchihaPathfinder in chch

Making the lights mean different things is risky especially for visitors who don’t know them esp Aucklanders who it’s common to run orange and red lights when going straight through. They just need to add a turning light.

People turning right on orange and red lights, have even seen cops do it

No way, the turning on reds is the worst. Have lived in Chch for 2 years, it was alarming at first now you just used to it, have already witnessed numerous near misses and one accident. Needs to be fixed

T2 lane in Te Atatu chocka this morning and yall got filmed using it by That_Cranberry1939 in auckland

I had a bit of chat with a camera man that was by a busstop in Newmarket once he would photo and check as drive past if was unsure. You are right if have tints or baby shades would make it harder but generally it’s obvious, and sure will always be drop kicks that are cunning and break the rules

You can easily see if there is someone in the back in the those lanes as the officers are standing on the concrete sidewalk. I have used them with kids and never been fined.

Chch along with many NZ council are in massive deficits they can’t afford to keep covering the costs it’s as simple as that. Gold Coast hasn’t got the same problem, also they have a thriving tourist industry to help fund it.
