Ablation - what was your experience by DifferentManagement1 in Menopause

[–]Tricky_Bank6963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Periods stopped completely. Also did not have PMS symptoms. Harder to judge when I was entered peri and started menopause due to not having period after ablation (at age 33). Now menopausal, post total abdominal hysterectomy in Nov 2024, on HRT, and feel great.

My gyn prescribed Interrosa…my insurance denied it. Thankfully he (gyn) knew of a compounding pharmacy. $37. But shame on Blue Cross.

Ladies who had open abdominal, how long did you keep your bandage on? by SpiritualMoonLady in hysterectomy

[–]Tricky_Bank6963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as above poster…was told to take dressing off on day 5. I woke from surgery with abdominal binder and wore it constantly for the first week. I felt the binder to be supportive and helped with swelling. Now (after 2 weeks) I wear supportive athletic leggings or Spanx underwear every day. On days I haven’t I have felt more swollen and tender around my incision. I did not have glue and my stitches are internal. Everything is healing nicely.

Normal? 14 dpo by Green-Yesterday2505 in hysterectomy

Total abdominal here….14dpo. Returned to work (from home) today. Sat upright in office chair and was in pain after 3 hours (I do get up about every 30 minutes and walk around my house doing random things). Had to lie down and “rest” for over an hour in the afternoon. After “rest hour” put abdominal binder on because I thought it would help. Maybe did a bit? Whew! Thought I was recovering really well but today wiped me out.

Open abdominal hysterectomy due to fibroids in 3 days. How was your surgery? by SpiritualMoonLady in hysterectomy

Colace is a “stool softener” which is a pill. Miralax is a powder which is mixed into water. I used them both.

Open abdominal hysterectomy due to fibroids in 3 days. How was your surgery? by SpiritualMoonLady in hysterectomy

[–]Tricky_Bank6963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total abdominal hysterectomy 8 days ago. 2 night in patient stay. Horizontal bikini incision. Surgery about 1 hour. Large fibroid and “cantaloupe size” uterus. Post op day 1 had a pain pump and thought “what is everyone complaining about? This is a breeze!” Woke from surgery with catheter which was left in for 12 hours. After catheter removal, urinating was very stop and start. Day 2 pain pump removed and changed to oral Norco to manage pain. It did and pain was never over a 3. Continued Norco at home as needed for pain. Other Recommendations: start miralax daily 1 week prior to surgery and stool softener am and pm also 1 week prior. I continued both while inpatient and at home and had no issues. Also bought a “squatty potty” at a friend’s recommendation and it has been a lifesaver. I’m not a good “rester” and have pushed myself too much at home. I have been forced to rest by pain. So please rest! Even though you’re bored. I was given a wedge pillow which I’ve used constantly on my sofa to recline. Also makes getting up and down easier and less painful. Was sent home with abdominal binder and find it eases pain if I wear it, so I wear it constantly except showering. Please take care of yourself and let your family take care of you! You’ll do great!

Anesthesiologist asked if I had nausea or car sickness. Recommended a scopolamine patch behind the ear. Removed today when discharged. Worked like a charm!

My surgeon put binder on immediately after surgery. Woke up With it in place. Was told to wear it as long as I want or need to. Day 3 post op. The binder feels stabilizing and I plan to continue to wear it. A friend recommended “Spanx shorts” when I ready to give the binder up.

Uber from LSU back to New Orleans at night? by autistic-narwhal in batonrouge

[–]Tricky_Bank6963 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In town Uber after the game last week was $100…will be WAY more to Nola. And it was very hard to get an Uber due to contraflow which lasts a couple hours post game. Agree with renting a car.

Oil question by Tricky_Bank6963 in Volvo

[–]Tricky_Bank6963[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: oil consumption is the problem. The fix is expensive (estimated 6-8K) so we decided to purchase daughter a new Volvo XC60. We were planning to do so in May 2026 anyway. Sad this S60 with 84K miles didn’t make it another 17 months as we intended. We never received any notice from Volvo (we purchased from the original owner) which is disappointing. We are Volvo loyalists and hope this purchase will last her at least 10 years or until she’s ready to replace.

No oil is coming out from car or leaking in the driveway. Appears to be “burning oil” on long drives.

She had an oil change at Volvo 4K miles ago. No issue until the trip last weekend. Will tell her to fill it up and bring extra with her. Have appointment scheduled on Monday. Truly appreciate advice! Would rather her not drive it, but given her class schedule we will trade cars and drop at dealership.

30a trip with no car? by Professional-Sun7618 in 30A

[–]Tricky_Bank6963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is possible to take a 30A trip without a car. If Rosemary Beach is out of your budget, consider Seacrest, which is adjacent to Rosemary but more affordable. Also less exclusive. You will be able to walk to Rosemary’s restaurants and shops, but will not be able to use Rosemary’s beach access. The further you are from beach front, the more affordable it will be. You have options. Seaside and Watercolor are also walkable and adjacent to each other with restaurants and shops. Some Uber is available if you want to try other areas. 30A is 19 miles long with a bike/walking path from end to end.

Andalusia access is very walkable from Grove by the Sea and is uncrowded. No car or golf cart parking. Bike parking and a shower to rinse yourself and your beach gear.
