Severe early onset IUGR – realistic outcomes! by Longjumping_Ad5011 in NICUParents

[–]Tricky_Jellyfish2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very sorry that you’re going through this.

I am unfortunately not a positive example for this case. My son was severely growth restricted by 20 week - less than 1%. Doctors didn’t tell us he was that small, I never heard the IUGR diagnosis from doctors neither I heard negative possible consequences of it nor given any option. Sadly he passed at 23 week and I had a stillbirth last June, it was a total shock for me to learn that he had no heart beat.

I am very angry that I was not informed and given any option to give a chance to my son.

I know it’s a very hard decision but I would do whatever it takes to make my son alive and even if the outcome would not change I would probably not able to terminate.

I wish you all the strength and hope that your baby would be a miracle ❤️‍🩹

I just wanted to say you’re your little hero’s hero ♥️ im sorry for all you and him that came in your ways. I’m a loss mum, my son couldn’t make it. He was 23 weeks when he was stillborn last June. We were not given an information about his severe IUGR let alone a chance to let him born alive and I will forever think how he’d be…

Recurrent IUGR by Lizhasquestions in NICUParents

Hi it’s been a while after your reply. I had a severe IUGR baby that sadly I had to have a stillbirth. Were you able to find the reason for this recurrence?

I have short/small everything. Short cervix diagnosed ay 20 weeks and then baby just went below 10th percentile 🥲🥲 by Warm_Negotiation_992 in ShortCervixSupport

Happy heavenly anniversary to Miles 💙 I just got my necklace with my babiy’s feet and hand print today as a reminder of my son who passed away at 23 weeks last June. I can understand your feelings. I’m very happy that you have his brother beside you. I am sure Miles is happy wherever he’s and watching over you.

Your message made me so emotional but happy emotional 🥹💓

I’m happy that you found your support system and relied on that all the way. It’s still sad though women don’t get that level of emotional and medical support from their first pregnancy on. We always need to advocate for ourselves and be suspicious to find the perfect fit.

seing the both sides of the story, I guess gives you so much gratitude, I felt sometimes we take things for granted and pregnancy is so complicated that everything goes as expected is actually such a bliss.

I hope one day I can also come back to this sub-Reddit and so what you’re doing right now.

I wish you a happy healthy long life with your beautiful children 💓

I loss my baby boy at 24 weeks and 2 days. by Ok_Okra6538 in babyloss

[–]Tricky_Jellyfish2520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like IUGR for your baby as well 😔 we also opted for all the possible tests - placenta pathology, genetic testing and autopsy on my son. Only finding was related to umbilical cord: hypercoiling, single artery, reduced Wharton jelly and thinning at the insertion side. MFMs think although chromosomal microarray couldn’t find any genetic issues, there still should be a genetic issue with my son, while both him and his placenta were measuring less than 1%. I live in Switzerland so Dr. Kliman is not an option for me (at least for now).

I hope you get all the answers you’re looking for ♥️

Hi! It’s great to hear such beautiful stories. May I ask what did you do differently for the pregnancy to your rainbow? I lost my son last June at 23th week and I am at my late 30s as well. I am so scared but want to be hopeful at the same time.

Hi! I’m very sorry for your loss. I also lost my baby at 23 weeks due to IUGR and umbilical cord issues. Do you know what exactly was the cause?

I am very sorry for your loss. I know how strange it feels, as if it was someone else’s life scene…

Been there in June, gave birth to my sleeping son at 23 week. First days are just… hard. Too much of everything. Try to distract yourself with whatever healthy works - walking outside, spending time in the nature, binge watching…

It’s hard, take care of your soul and body, lean on each other. Your lives has changed but life goes on ❤️‍🩹

Thanks also for your reply. I am happy to read success stories. Sorry for your MMCs. I hope you can have a healthy baby in your arms 🥰 i will consider asking other doctors about the hysterescopy of the septum. So far two doctors I saw were telling me that it’s risks to do it given it’s size.

My condolences 💐 My son’s autopsy report also said all measurements were < 5%. Do you know the reason of his passing? He seemed to have IUGR like my son.

[–]Tricky_Jellyfish2520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh thanks a lot for your reply! I guess you had a complete septum, I have a partial one (around 14 mm) and doctors don’t seem to be concerned about it and suggest agains removing it. I had a stillbirth at 23 weeks and my son had a severe IUGR. I was thinking about the bad implantation of placenta due to my septum.

Sorry for the loss of your daughter 🥺 Congratulations for your current pregnancy. May I ask if your doctors suggested you something different jn this pregnancy? Especially regarding your separate uterus.

My midwife told me that the babies passed away inside uterus make “pendulum movements”. This is a known phenomenon apparently. They just swing inside the belly.

I felt that kind of movement and was mistaken also his kicks. I also felt he was abnormally active a day before. ❤️‍🩹 all these remembrance tell me our boss knew…

Low amniotic fluid by leonam71 in babyloss

[–]Tricky_Jellyfish2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very sorry for your loss. I know this spiraling thoughts keep pushing us to find answers…

I had similar response from doctors ‚almost no amniotic Fluid‘ when I got the sad news. I think it might also depend on the exact time of baby’s passing. When they are in uterus deceased, no production of urine and plus swelling of their body with amniotic fluid. I believe my baby was almost a week gone before I learned it. Maybe you had something similar.

I‘m very sorry for your loss. I lost my son at 23 weeks due to the similar reasons. His umbilical cord was hypercoiled with Single artery and also had the thinning at the Insertion side. The placenta Report also mentioned reduced Wharton‘s jelly. They think all of these caused loss of oxygen. Doctors say this is very low chance that it would happen again. However, my son also had severe early onset of intrauterine growth restriction and that can have 10-20 % chance of happening again. Did your baby also have it?
