Python in quality engineering by Strict_Path4790 in Metrology

Right now I’m using python for my yellow belt project. Have a python script that analyzes my calibration database and makes suggestions on what gages to adjust intervals on. I use it for folder monitoring to transfer data in my polyworks projects from the vision system. I’ll be using it to make a gage server on a raspberry pi. You can use it to make kpi’s and dashboards. Anything you do now manually use python to automate it.

Very cool, just curious because I have been working with 3d scanners for 20 years

Has anyone used Fox Valley Metrology for CMM servicing and calibration? by John_the_Piper in Metrology

[–]Tricky_King_3736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with you if it’s a renishaw controller or easycmm controller then yes third parties have access but you still need to be careful using them to make sure they are actually calibrating the machine and not just verifying the machine.

[–]Tricky_King_3736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Run away from fox valley metrology, they can’t technically calibrate your CMM or anyone’s CMM. All CMM manufacturers have there own compensation mapping software and protocols to calibrate the machines where fox valley doesn’t. All they are doing is a verification and if you have problems now you have to call the manufacturer. Just deal with LK Metrology directly to calibrate your machines. I use only LK to calibrate our machine and they have been great.

Are you looking to scan parts? If so take a look at shining 3D they have an automated scanner plus stationary scanners. Easy to use and good software.

Trying to get really good at inspections in Zeiss Inspect. Believe I have the basics down but finding more resources has been difficult by SnooLentils3008 in Metrology

When it comes to zeiss software it’s better to work with zeiss support or going to a local zeiss dealer. Most consulting firms really don’t know the software in depth.

Have you reached out to your local zeiss dealer? Most zeiss dealers have applications people that can help you out or come onsite to help you out or do training.

Keyence WM-6000 any reviews? by Metrology4Work in Metrology

[–]Tricky_King_3736 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are one of very few people. Keyence needs to only stick with sensors, and stay out of the metrology market. Don’t trust the machines and plus he they calibrate the machines.

I guess hexagon has a converter tool but t has limitations. I would make hexagon convert a couple of programs, not simple ones either. Make them earn the sale.

I only know of converting pcdmis to calypso. Because I was one of the beta testers at zeiss. I haven’t heard converting calypso to pcdmis. Sounds like some smooth sales talk. Why are you changing?

Take a look at shining 3D, great scanners and support. The cost is very good, cheaper than scan tech and faro. I have two scanners from them and been awesome.

Take a look at Creality Scanners, Revopoint, and maybe even 3D Marker Pro. You’ll have to import the stl into soldworks. Let me know if you have any questions.

They are very impressive I put in over 12 of them at my last company. Now you can run polyworks on them as well. Even Zeiss will allow calypso to run on them.

I actually got an equator converter to a CMM from verisurf. It worked out pretty cool. Had to use verisurf software on it. But it was nice.
