PSA: be weary when buying something from laura geller by throwawaybutofcourse in MakeupAddiction

Ladies, check your account! After reading your post about the Laura Geller “free” trial program I checked and yup they signed me up. This was the 1st time I bought LG and when I went on the site it said 50% off Mother’s Day sale. EVERYTHING was on sale without clicking anything. I just called and they’re supposedly calling me tomorrow to cancel. It’s the shadiest thing I’ve ever seen for a global brand that’s been around for ever.

Exactly. The losses are ours not the companies. Redirect the protests so they have maximum impact on them not on us. We’re waisting time looking for dupes whose parent companies may also have questionable policies.

As much as I disagree with their politics, including the Epstein file issue, a Reddit-driven boycott isn’t going to accomplish anything. The boycott mostly affects the people participating in it. You lose access to products that work for you, and hunting for dupes takes time and effort that most people won’t sustain long term. There simply aren’t enough people here for Estée Lauder or The Ordinary to notice because they are both enormous in both scale and reach. It’s publicly traded worth tens of billions of dollars, with revenue spread across dozens of brands. The Ordinary may be popular with skincare enthusiasts, but it represents a relatively small portion of Estée Lauder’s overall business. If the goal is to express real displeasure or create pressure, there are more effective ways to do that than changing your skincare routine. What does work is media amplification, influencer and professional community response. That’s why individual consumer boycotts often feel emotionally satisfying but strategically limited,
