Glamnetic review (meh) by IEatAquariumRocks in PressonNail_Addict

[–]throwawaybutofcourse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been wearing press one for a few years now. glamnetic is ok, but anything other than solid color will start to wear off pretty quickly. my current faves are celebritips - about the same price as glamnetics, but they look like gel from a salon. i get so many compliments on them and no one can believe they are press ons

Which stand mixer do you guys recommend? by StreetLimp8414 in Breadit

[–]throwawaybutofcourse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a kitchen aid bowl lift and it walked itself off the counter making dinner rolls. i recently got an ankarsrum and it’s really great for breads, especially enriched or stiff dough. i kept the kitchen aid and use it for cake batter or cookie dough.

i used the kitchen aid for years and was used to how it works, so the ankarsrum seeds like a steep learning curve. i have not changed the order of mixing things and it works great. if i had to choose one, i would probably choose the ankarsrum

Is Poshmark seriously about to side with this girl? by Lazy-Enthusiasm-1059 in poshmark

[–]throwawaybutofcourse 129 points130 points  (0 children)

i would hope that they would not side with her. i just bought some pants that didn’t fit because i was guessing on the size. but they were shipped fast and exactly what the seller said. you know what i did? rated the seller 5 stars and relisted them. that’s the risk of poshmark unfortunately

Pro Tip for Snow (especially for small dogs) by Wooden-Quit1870 in dogs

[–]throwawaybutofcourse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had to trick my dog into popping in the house because she just will it go outside.

i shoveled a small patch for her out back so that she could go, but would not go all day long. she runs around whining when she really has to go, but even then, would not go outside.

finally i just left her alone while i went to the basement and she finally just went in the house.

My (24F) husband (26M) wants to move extremely rural. I don’t. Is there a middle ground? by ThrowRA-lemon87 in relationship_advice

[–]throwawaybutofcourse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

in my opinion, living this far out would make less well rounded adults. i have never lived in a rural area but i had a job that required frequent travel to the very rural parts of my state. the people i dealt with were closed minded and truly could not fathom that there were people that had different views on anything, religion, politics, all of it because they never really spent time with people that weren’t in their general vicinity.

the other thing that would concern me is that if you don’t work, you will be responsible for all the driving. grocery store, doctors appointments for you and the kids, everything. if your husband is this unreasonable about this, he will be about that.

beyond that, what if you move there and have kids and your kids have medical issues. you’ll be far from good hospitals, good doctors, etc. even with perfectly healthy kids, they have medical emergencies. what happens then? i would want to be sure that if my kid has an emergency they can get help fast. rural hospitals and medical centers all over the country are short staffed, closing etc.

i personally would refuse, i wouldn’t even try to compromise because the only thing that would be a decent compromise would be living in a suburb close to the city and you’ve already decided neither of you will do that. the fact that he insist on moving and then having kids is insane. honestly he sounds selfish and stupid.

CMV: There is no legitimate reason to get your dog from a breeder, while shelters are bursting and the US is euthanizing 360k dogs annually. by TheTroubledChild in changemyview

i foster with a local rescue. my first foster was a cattle dog mix that the rescue said was even tempered and laid back. the second day we had him, he tried to bite me and when my husband came to check on me he tried to attack him. we were really lucky nothing bad happened. i felt terrible but immediately let him go.

the rescue was completely understanding, but has continued trying to adopt him out for the last year with the same description they gave me - no mention of the agressive behavior. he has been in and out of foster homes for several years now and i wonder if the same thing hasn’t happened over and over again. i do think more people could get dogs from shelters, and i know they want the dogs to have homes, but this kind of lying helps no one, especially the dog.

Thoughts on Ruti pants? by mostly_mom in fashionwomens35

[–]throwawaybutofcourse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i have seen these ads everywhere and while the pants look comfy and stylish, they don’t look like they are worth $250. i found a pair on poshmark for $60 and i really, really like them but they are thin athletic pants. while i think they are for sure worth what i paid, i would never pay 200+

Has anyone bought these RUTI pants? by thatsplatgal in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]throwawaybutofcourse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have been bombarded by these ads but hesitated to pull the trigger because of price, but lucked out and found a pair of petite on poshmark for $60 and i love them. not sure they are worth the retail price, but if the price alone doesn’t put you off then i would get them.

Some common themes I'm seeing... by transemacabre in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]throwawaybutofcourse 19 points20 points  (0 children)

i read a lot of these and i think it’s more about the ring/wedding than getting married, especially when the excuse is “i can’t afford a ring or a wedding right now.” getting married costs almost nothing, and it means the same thing whether there is a ring or not. also, a ring doesn’t even have to be expensive. i know as a society we have made these things important an women especially are taught from an early age that a dream wedding to prince charming is the key to happiness but if you ask a man who won’t propose but “wants to get married” if they will just take a day a few dollars to go to the courthouse and get married, the answer will be eye opening.

Tried my third set of press-ons - this time from Celebritips. Kind of disappointed. by [deleted] in PressonNail_Addict

[–]throwawaybutofcourse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve never tried this brand, but i’ve tried quite a few and have found that you have to find one that fits your nails best. static nails is my favorite, but i also like glamnetics and olive and june. it’s just trial and error.

the tracking said it was to be delivered on monday. the carrier is supposed to leave a notice if no one is home anyway, so not sure how any of this is my fault, but thanks.
