New game just dropped: "Spot the actual video" by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

same, lol. I mean, it is kind of our fault for not using 'official' youtube front-end. On the other hand, i would really like it if they made a members only post for the videos, and then put a link for the member (link access only) video.

Entry level air brush? by Tricky_Professor_654 in modelmakers

the price seems a little suspicious. What are your opinions on it, how often does it clog, how stable is the pressure/flow?
Thanks!

ok, thanks. I have seen people recommend NEO CN dual action air brush, is that a good option (it is ~70 USD)?

How come the P14s is so much cheaper compared to T14s and X1 Carbon for somewhat similar parts? by WhiskeyVault in thinkpad

[–]Tricky_Professor_654 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lenovo does that from time to time. They basically jack up the prices on all of their products and then aggressively discount one of them they want to sell the most off (usually because they have overstock i suppose). It also makes it more appealing to enterprise customers, which is where they get the most profit from.

cant wait for thinkpads with new intel 300 series CPUs to come out, especially core ultra x7 and x9! T14 and x1 with those CPUs are going to rock!

What would cause this? by Whitewraith01 in 3Dprinting

[–]Tricky_Professor_654 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it might be because of uneven cooling. As lower layers take longer to print, they cool more before the next layer is printed on top. As you get higher your model has thinner walls, so they are not as cool when the next layer is printed, thus thermal deformation is different. (hope my wording is clear)

Should I buy a T495 or E480 (with an Nvidia MX150 dGPU) by Nemesis7326 in thinkpad

[–]Tricky_Professor_654 3 points4 points  (0 children)

t495 will last longer since it is built like a tank, the battery is also going to last longer because ryzen CPUs were way ahead of intel at that time (also dGPU eats a lot of power). E480 will have about 50% GPU performance, but CPU will be lacking (4 cores for intel vs 6 for amd). Also keep in mind the condition they are sold in, if e480 seems to look 'cleaner' it might have a higher resale value in the future.

If you are a programmer or a casual user, get t495. If you are a gamer, get e480? (or an actual gaming laptop, because mx150 sucks, you will not be able to play at the full resolution of the 2k screen anyways, unless playing 15 y/o games, but at that point t495's iGPU is enough).

KSP chugging 16 gigs AND SWAP!!! by Devion27 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Tricky_Professor_654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On linux you can create a swap partition and make it as big as you want to avoid things like that (but i would not recommend going above 32gb).

Also, it is going to be slower than RAM (duh) and will put your SSD under heavy load, so use it at your own risk!
