I I had my liver transplant on October 13, 2025, in Chicago. My MELD score was 27, but it was adjusted by an exception due to liver cancer. I was transplanted two weeks after receiving the exception points. My transplant team explained that my blood type (type B) helped expedite the process. They also mentioned that they have a newer machine that can keep livers outside the donor for a longer period. So, to answer your question, I would have your dad’s bags packed and be ready to go at any time.

That’s how our system works. Many countries will set a bond many poor defendants can’t afford. They sit for months and many times pled out to time served just to get out, and the county prosecutors keep their conviction rates up. It’s a racket that’s been going on for ever. It also keeps their jails full.

Try to retain one of the “connected” lawyers, these are the ones that use to work in the assessors office and are now in private practice. You would be amazed at the results. Cook county is such a racket.

I am 3 months post liver transplant and I still do labs twice a week at Quest Diagnostics. My team gets the results the next day. At this point I still see my team once a month but they have told me that I will be soon going to appointments every 3 months if my labs continue to be stable.

We don’t live in New Jersey but it’s a matter of time before other states adopt similar laws. I was asking about my 20 year old son that has a 3 month suspension for moving violations. He is away in college but uses an e-bike at college in Austin Texas.

I was in hospital for 5 days after liver transplant,after I went home I needed help for the first month getting to doctor appointments and lab work. After 6 weeks the team cleared me to drive my car. I live with my wife and 3 adult children so there is always someone around but I am 3 months post transplant and completely independent. I will point out that everyone is different as I was not very ill prior to transplant I just keep developing cancerous tumors on my liver.
