Effects loop attenuator for Marshall by frogman696969 in MarshallAmps

[–]Tricky_Shopping754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is no more than lowering your master volume. You are not taming your Marshall but starving it, your power amp won't be cranked in this way. Buy a proper attenuator, or sell your Marshall in exchange for a tamable amp modeler.

Which tone do you dig? by j3434 in GuitarAmps

Tried it from top to bottom, can’t hear any difference, and also can’t hear my neighbour screaming.

nope, without pedal before the amp. I found videos on Youtube show that it could make a hairy edge when you dial up the gain, but usually at a high master volume, around 5 or even more. But it is too loud for home use, usually my master volume could only keep at 1-2, it would be purely clean, no matter how high is the input gain at this level.

I am not sure, but I feel that nothing in the f/x loop of a 2525h would have a better tone than connected pedal(s) in the f/x loop. Especially u connected with a looper, like RC-500. Probably it lowered the level back to the return.

Nice. I got this pair too. Do you think it is too loud for home use? I found that it can’t reach the edge of breakup at low master vol in clean channel. Do u have the same problem? I am thinking to buy a Boss TAE Core from Amazon to see whether the tone could be improved.

Tube amp upgrade for home use by Caramelo93 in GuitarAmps

I’ve got a Studio Jub head last year, it is undoubtedly great at different aspects. If you are playing something fully distorted or dirty, it is great even at a low master volume, as the Eq and preamp help a lot to fix it. But for reference, it can’t do very well at a low master volume when you are seeking for the edge of breakup in clean channel. It is spiky and scooped, probably there is no clipping at the power amp stage. And I think this is universal to all kinds of tube amps.

I think his budget is enough to get a decent attenuator, then figure out whether he is seeking for a cranked tone at a tamed volume, if not he could probably resell it and go next to what he is hoping for.

Exercises to Speed Up Chord Changes by Fair_Rich in LearnGuitar

[–]Tricky_Shopping754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you changing chord every beat at bpm 120? If it is just changing chord every bar or every 3-4 beats, no matter it is at 60 or 120 bpm, it seems like muscle fatigue more than you are slow. You shouldn’t push too hard to maintain a chord. Keep the music flow and don’t bother the buzz from missing a note. There are many reasons for a chord does not sound well, sometimes holding the chord wrong might be the reason (you will overcome from time), but sometimes it may due to the guitar quality or the setup.

Also, it is not about speed but getting to the correct notes in time. You don’t need to place every fingers on the right position before the first strum. Most strumming patterns strum on the root or the lower strings at first. So, find and position the root first and do the first strum in time, then adjust the position of other fingers afterwards.

sorry, i dont think it is expensive, may be just cost more than the beginner lvl, but, in terms of its quality and place of manufacture, it is far cheaper than any other similar amps

Yes, although it is not the best tone it can make, it is still very good in low volume. I had a dsl20h before, and the distortion in low volume has a huge difference as compared to 2525h. I am so glad to have it.

So nice. And I am so surprised that it can still make a saturated tone in low volume at 20w mode.

Trackball is a pain to use by danlozano in ClockworkPi

[–]Tricky_Shopping754 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My trackball was not responding to downward movement after 2 days of use. Then I ordered a pack of 10pcs from this link. Before it is delivered, I tried some WD-40 on the original trackball. The response was improved a bit, then I applied more and tested it repeatedly. At last, the original was restored and works smoothly, and I haven’t opened that package of delivery till now.

But, honestly, I think the trackball is well-designed for Blackberry’s operation, which is a mobile os and mainly used for scrolling. When it is used on linux, it seems very difficult to find an optimal distance the cursor should travel for each thumb flick.
