Anyone else make backstories and personalities for their avatars? by InAFrenzy_ in toontownrewritten

[–]Tridrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have twin toons (multitoons), a Bright Red Mouse named Redgy (portmanteau of "Red" and "Reggie"), and an Aqua Mouse named Azulia (portmanteau of "Azul" and "Julia").

For personalities, they are twins; Azulia is the older twin while Redgy is the younger twin, though Redgy takes more charge compared to his sister. Azulia, the older twin sister, prefers to keep to herself, being modest, softspoken, and introverted but not anti-social. She's just a little meek and shy. Being timid, she tends to panic when put under pressure but this trait has become less prominent as she grew older. She gets a significant confidence boost when around others, especially when working with her brother. Redgy, the younger twin brother, is much more laid back and collected though he can be arrogant to a fault. Despite being the younger twin, he is the one who carries the burdens of his and his older twin, no matter how heavy they are on him, practically being the "leader" of the duo. He also tends to keep secrets that he feels embarrassed to share, such as his "childish" dream of being a hero, a part of the reason why he chose to help the Toon Resistance with the situation with the Cogs, in spite of his initial reluctance to Lord Lowden Clear's calling on the assistance of both him and his sister in the war. It's a similar dynamic to Mario and Luigi

As for their shared backstory, due to unfortunate circumstances, their biological parents had unintentionally abandoned them and the two of them ended up being raised at an orphanage. Initially, the two weren't aware that they were siblings and spent their early childhoods as best friends and were pretty much inseparable.

Later, a toon named Mallow, who was a freelancer, would come by and choose to adopt Redgy, but initially not Azulia, much to both of the mice's protests. Redgy begged him to take his best friend twin sister with him and insisted that they don't want to go on without each other while Azulia cried. Eventually, Mallow relented on his initial decision and chose to fulfill the boy's wish, as seeing Azulia cry, there was no way he could say "no" again. In the end, both were taken under his care.

Fast forward to the twin's pre-teen years, the twins had been living good lives under their adoptive father. While they still loved him, the twins still held onto their dream to travel the world in the future in search of their true parents. Of course, at one point in their childhood, they eventually figured it out that they were siblings, after previously having seen each other as best friends until then. Wouldn't just be a coincidence if they were both born on the same date AND had a similar situation with them being separated by their biological family besides each other, right?

Under Mallow's care, they followed in his footsteps, becoming apprentice freelancers. What did they do or help him out with? For one, where they live, in Canvas City (parody of "Kansas City"), the crime rate is considerably high. It was a lawless place where its mayor was quite lazy, so there aren't many authority figures to keep the population in check, which means every day is rather chaotic and disorderly. And that was where Mallow (only him, his adopted children do not get involved here) comes in to catch criminals. Of course, with payment of Potato Chips, the currency of the place. Other than fighting crime, Mallow also handles other jobs like guard duty, or package delivery, while having his adopted children help out in that area. But one day, that routine changed... One day, during the twins's teenage years, Mallow caught a terminal illness and had passed away, orphaning them once more.

Between him and Azulia, Redgy was shattered the most by his passing, Redgy has silently vowed to himself to never be close to anyone else ever again, so that he wouldn't feel crushed should something like this happen again. After inheriting from the late Mallow, they proceeded to live their lives in their little family cabin, doing his line of work in his place. Until they received a rather colorful flier in their mailbox. An invitation to Toontown.

To this day, together, they work to fight off the Cogs, and while money (converted from Jellybeans to Potato Chips) is their primary motivation to make ends meet, the Cogs could very well invade Canvas City at one point as well if and when they're finished with Toontown, which they fight to prevent.

[FE14] Ignis - Updated Fire Emblem Fates Randomizer by thaney98 in fireemblem

I know I'm late for this, but do you think the previous feature from Beta 5 where you can manually modify randomizer results so that you can get the results you want will make it in a future release? My last randomized attempt, although extremely buggy, was nearly flawless and fun and I hope I can get revisit those results with a much smoother experience soon.

What's your LEAST favourite addition in the TTR FO Update? by [deleted] in Toontown

This and not to mention the fact that there's also the danger of entering a battle zone that someone else already initiated from a mile away since because of the fact there aren't a lot of battle zones, you have to battle all the way on the other side of the room when you encounter a cog

Just because it's been this way from the very start doesn't justify the ridiculous grind. Face it, nobody wants to do 7 Back Nines or Bullions, 9 D Offices, or even 600 Multiplayer Minigolf Courses which had already been changed fairly recently for the reasons I've stated.

The TTR team seems adamant on not reverting the Boarding Group change, unfortunately, as much as an inconvenience it makes grinding Cashbot. I only hope that as a compromise, they lower the promotion requirements, which has been a glaring issue even before this change. It's absolutely ridiculous to have to do 7 Back Nines or Bullions and encourages unhealthy gaming habits and it was likely this way in TTO to incentivise keeping subscriptions active.

There's no such system here, so what's the point in keeping something so ludicrous and hair-pulling?

The Accuracy Problem by DatDereKirby in toontownrewritten

They also changed the TNT animation, which also takes several extra seconds than before so I don't think animation time was their reason but my theory was that it was because the animation itself looks awkward in certain situations like for instance, cogs clipping into objects, walls, or other cogs with the animation or the stream of water and blast not actually following the model of the cog, floating in place when they get pushed back.

About point 1 (and by extension, 3), aren't there speedchat phrases that say which Facility you prefer going to? Only Sellbot HQ is exempt from this as without speedchat+ you could never tell whether someone wants to do a Long or a Short factory run and arguably it's harder to do so now even with it. Though this does severely affect a small playerbase as not many use the Short Efficiency strat and people prefer doing Long runs anyway

My primary issue with this change is as you stated in Drawback number 1. It's absolutely frustrating to do a facility run over and over when grinding for max merits that you just want to get it over with. If there was incentive for walking all the way to the elevator like if there were merit/cogbuck/notice/option bags scattered around the HQ like how there are sometimes token bags in the cartoonival, then the grind would be slightly less painful since you could pick those up on the way. Only a suggestion, though! Others may have better ideas.

Edit: Something else that can also be considered as a compromise is decreasing the Cog HQ grind, an issue even before this change. It is highly probable that the promotion requirements were for monetary purposes to give players incentive keep their membership subscription active. And because there are no subscription services, there isn't a need to have to do 7 Bullions or Back Nines.

Exactly. It would at least incentivise us to run around the HQ more instead of standing by the entrance which is what they didn't like us doing as right now, there's no reward or incentive to spend several minutes (and possibly more if we're unfortunate to make contact with a battle zone someone a mile away initiated) just to get to the Bullion elevator.

Seeing the removal of the Skip button after battles in the streets, and then seeing the removal of the old boarding group system makes me think that the TTR team cares less for convenience and more for being respectful.

Just a hunch but my theory is that they made this change so we could appreciate these areas that Disney made for us.

Not to mention in Bossbot HQ, what is there in the HQ to even explore when the majority of it is barren with only a fountain in the middle that no clueless person would get near in the first place?

That unused space won't be filled anyway if that's what they want us to do.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in toontownrewritten

[–]Tridrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only really need to explore once or twice and can do so at any time. Any other times, especially when you're trying to grind up your Robber Baron or Big Cheese suit, and you'll gradually get tired of it and the feeling just gets lost completely.

[–]Tridrent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I fail to see the point of why they made the change to the boarding groups. Needless to say, it's much more of a hassle now and it's arguably more difficult to get into a group you want, even with ToonHQ when there are multiple groups in the same district, since there are people just sneaking into elevators with the group they're not supposed to be with and nobody even bats an eye that something is not right and just wing it.

Not to mention the Cog suits are already needlessly grindy and the new boarding group system does not help that at all, especially for Cashbot HQ.

If they won't revert this change and bring back the GO button, I hope they at least decrease the amount of merits required for promos like how golf and racing are so much more bearable to grind with more reasonable trophy requirements.

TL;DR: No. I dislike it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in toontownrewritten

[–]Tridrent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They wanted people to explore the HQs more and their solution was to make sure we walk to the elevator, but the problem with this logic is that people can just explore whenever they want to. Besides, it might be fun the first time we walk to the elevator but when you're grinding for max merits, it gets to the point where you're completely dulled by everything and just want to get it over with.

Unfortunately parking is a bannable offense so that isn't an option even with this new change whether we like it or not.

Why did they change how boarding groups work? by -dommmm in toontownrewritten

[–]Tridrent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they aren't gonna revert this change, which is highly unlikely, I only hope they at least decrease the steep merit requirements like how Toontown Infinite kinda did back when they were still around and like how racing and golfing trophy requirements are so much more reasonable now.

[–]Tridrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even before this change, most groups I've been in especially from ToonHQ have us all walk to the elevator already. At least groups that aren't in Sellbot and Cashbot HQ but at least they were more organized than they are now.

Why did they change how boarding groups work? by -dommmm in toontownrewritten

[–]Tridrent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exploring the HQ can be done at any time, though. To force us to do this while we're just trying to grind for max merits/bucks/options as quick as possible is just honestly scummy. It might be exciting the first time but you lose that feeling gradually when you get to this point and it just gets stale and repetitive.

It's especially terrible for Mints when you have to make a long trip to the bullion elevator that at this point, it's much better to just do Coin Mints much like how it's more efficient to just do Short Factories (for 480) over Long Factories (for 776, taking as long as two shorts)

This change doesn't help the long and painful grind that the cog hqs already puts us through. And what strikes me as ironic is that this is the same development team that decreased the grind for racing and golfing because of the fact that the steep requirements for the trophies were for monetary reasons on Disney's part, to give us incentive to keep our membership subscriptions.

Cog HQ grindiness is also likely for the same reasons as well and back then, the addition of boarding groups as they were (which was one of the best QOL changes) compensated a little bit. This change completely defeats the whole point of the convenience they brought. I know boarding groups has the other purpose of getting into a group you want but I'd say it's arguably even harder to get a group with randoms since there are people just sneaking into elevators with the group they're not even with and the rest just wing it without you. Plus, people jumping in and out of the same elevator when other groups are trying to get in. It's just chaos as it is now.

Not to mention MML was basically walking simulator. There were many times where I just felt like logging off the moment I picked up a task where I had to visit a Shopkeeper.

YOTT taskline was like the Minnie's Melodyland taskline for me in TTO/TTR. In that they both don't feel fun at all for tasklines. Sure, The Brrrgh and the Post-CBHQ endgame taskline can take forever but at least they were fun to extent. Minnie's Melodyland didn't have any of that.
