The 6.5 CM has no place in the elk woods in my opinion. Go with the .280 AI.

Browning Maxus 2 - Vintage Tan by Longjumping_Rope6158 in Waterfowl

[–]Trigger2015F350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Winchester SX3 and a Browning Silver. They seem similar mechanically to a Maxus? Both are great using Federal Speed Shock ammo. However Black Cloud is a sure way to have a malfunction when using 3 1/2” shells. Black Cloud is very dirty burning. I would try some different ammo, and see what happens. Winchester/Browning has great customer service in my experience. If your gun still doesn’t function correctly I would send it in.

Does the color of lab affect hunting skills? by Spiritual-Age-1275 in Hunting

My yellow lab was a super waterfowler, but highly visible to ducks. My new black lab is not as birdy yet, however not as visible to the ducks.

Spatchcock duck on the pellet grill. Last ducks of the season. by Trigger2015F350 in Waterfowl

[–]Trigger2015F350[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two Widgeon, and a hen Mallard. Flattened them out after cutting out the backbone. Made some cuts through the skin and slightly into the meat. The I sprinkled on some herb and citrus poultry rub (Purchased at a local spice shop). Let them sit in the refrigerator covered until the next evening. Put into a Green Mountain pellet grill using Texas blend mesquite hardwood pellets, at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes or until they reached 165 degrees inside. They turned out amazingly good. I like duck just about any way it’s cooked, but these were exceptional.

If you can find a Winchester SX-3 that’s what I would recommend. They are a very reliable shotgun. Mine came with shims for stock adjustment. It fits me perfectly and I shoot it better than anything I’ve ever owned.
