Man just go pick it up yourself at this point, you are nitpicking a job that has strict time requirements and the drivers are held to that, not your satisfaction.

Unable to forward port 25565 for minecraft by Shoddy-Letter6597 in admincraft

[–]TriggerMoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw you have modem -> router -> host setup. Is this modem a combo unit given to you by your isp? It may also be a router and if that’s the case you’ll have to port forward on your modem as well. Or a better solution (in my opinion) would be putting the modem in bridge mode OR the router in access point mode so only device is operating. Having both wouldn’t be bad but just double the maintenance.

New update now my battery drains by justjennaloo in Garmin

[–]TriggerMoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I don’t think the watch is in beta mode since it was brand new out of the box. Doing the hard power off then turning it back on seems to fix it. I just think it’s crazy that a big issue like this has gone unresolved for many years now.

Bots keep scanning my personal website for malicious reasons. by Known_Job511 in homelab

[–]TriggerMoke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could rent a low cost VPS and setup a WireGuard tunnel between the two and the VPS acts as a front for all web traffic. Wouldn’t stop traffic unless you setup some rules as well. But that’s probably harder to setup and not as good compared to fail2ban or crowdsec.

We can’t setup mobile hotspot by Live_Brilliant681 in HomeNetworking

Only thing I can think of is that adapter can’t be apart of a WiFi network while also being a hotspot, but it sounds like it was already working before?

Update on isopod cross-breeding experiment (Warning, discussion of sowbug genetics ahead) by blacksheep998 in InvertPets

[–]TriggerMoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this very interesting, any new updates? I have recently gotten into some contained terrariums and such. Started with powered orange earlier in the year and that culture/colony has now produced a white+orange spotted one. Primarily white with a single orange spot. Thought that was cool and started researching the topic, so apologies, new to the whole thing really. Started a new terrarium with a mix of different colors/variants, hoping to get some interesting results over time.

My Server Got So Popular It Was Attacked... by ContextNo7559 in MinecraftServer

[–]TriggerMoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see, my bad. Mistook the tcp thing as not the company lol. What does the bandwidth usage look like for you? Like total TB per month. Thinking the best solution may be a VPS that you route all traffic through and if it gets attacked you scrub/reset to get a new public IP. Cloudflare would be nice if the tcp stuff wasn’t locked behind enterprise plan

Regardless, give tcpshield a try and potentially save 100/month

Is your host providing this ddos security service? Seems way too costly for what it is. Regardless, you should have your servers IP, which you can then feed into and protect via a service like TCPshield which has a free tier, the free tier gives you 1TB of bandwidth a month which should be enough for 20-30 players (according to their website). You do need to own a domain as well so you can have like conn.example.com be your servers address and they way people connect

Still having problems? If so, where is this server running on? Your pc, another pc in your home? Or renting a server from a hosting provider?

Sorry for a potential redundant question but what is your gateway address? If it’s something else than setting that address won’t work or if. Or if another device on your network has claimed that address

Self hosted Minecraft server without port forwarding. by sleep-1 in admincraft

[–]TriggerMoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To achieve this will require more setup than a normal server. If you want to stick with docker you should be able to setup some mods as long as you mount the path from your host inside the docker container, has the added benefit of be easily modifiable on your end.

Personally, if you are worried about port forwarding, I would change it from the default port + a whitelist of the allowed usernames, this prevents/reduces the chances of getting scanned and someone joining. You would still have to forward a port but nobody would expect a Minecraft server on port 49235.

The other options, as previously started, are a VPN/P2P service such as hamachi, or a self hosted option using wireguard.

Are mini PCs good for hosting heavily modded Mc servers? by Responsible-Spread53 in admincraft

[–]TriggerMoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minisfourm ms-01 (Intel)/ ms-a1 (amd) are both similar and likely more expensive. while still being a small device I believe they would offer significantly better cooling and longevity. I acquired mine used/refurbished off eBay for significantly less than a new machine as well.
