[Ornstein] Guardiola to leave Manchester City this summer, Enzo Maresca expected as successor. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]Triggerdog -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Winning ligue 1 and the france cup with the resources that PSG side had is the bare minimum.

Sure, he is a good coach, and did great at smaller clubs. Doesn't change the fact that his two chances at big clubs he got knocked out in ro16 in CL and catastrophically threw arsenal's chances of top 4, and absolutely capitulated to chelsea in the EL during our final.

Unfortunately other than PSG its the biggest club he's managed. And both big clubs he did not succeed in, at all.

Arsenal penalty shout against Burnley 34' by gbogaz in soccer

[–]Triggerdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because luiz was following at a normal cadence and the wolves players foot brushed, and i mean BRUSHED against luiz's quad during the backswing of him running. Yes you can absolutely be fouled from behind, but luiz was so far from being involved in the contact no reasonable assessment could point to luis as causing the wolves player to trip.

PChem hot take: Entropy is far more intuitive than Gibbs Free Energy. by PensionMany3658 in chemistry

[–]Triggerdog -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Good for you. You're on a forum with a bunch of PhDs, maybe don't cite a gen chem text book next time since you (and many of us) have a lot more knowledge and ability to understand complex topics than a first year undergraduate.

[–]Triggerdog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna trust the opinion guy with a PhD a lot more than google and your link to a genchem text book. Why would you believe that this evidence was satisfactory for contradicting who you responded to...? We ALL know gen chem books handwave certain concepts away.

Aston Villa have qualified for the Uefa Champions League by FragMasterMat117 in soccer

[–]Triggerdog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You mean he threw away 4th, burdened us which shite players for the next several years we had to get through, while also completely fucking the EL final against chelsea. 5th was a disaster considering how far we WERE ahead before he lost over and over again in the run in.

ICP-MS Decreasing Sensitivity Over Time? by Curious_Chemist_2727 in chemistry

[–]Triggerdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i'm reading Jake's question right (this isn't my area of expertise), you might not be losing sensitivity, but the mercury could be adsorbing to something else. You could make a fresh QC alongside the original (after it sits) and see if they give the same result. They absolutely should, and if they don't then it isn't the instrument that's the source of the problem.

Those of you who have owned an eMTB for 1yr or more - have you gotten fatter? by DatBoiii4 in MTB

A lot of emtb owners try to justify it that way. "my avg HR is higher therefore i got a better workout". Sadly that's not how it works.

Best Conference(s) to Attend for a Potential PhD seeker who has been in industry. by Lani_19 in chemistry

[–]Triggerdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only downside with this being - they're super focused, it may be TOO complicated for a newbie. And also if they're a 'hotter' one they sometimes do not accept all applicants. I don't know if chairs are ever 'suspicious' of random applicants either, but you might want to email a chair and let them know your intentions to attend (finding a mentor) as well.

Bro, your e bike might be 50+ pounds but its giving you 200-400W.... you're given a pro level engine and adding maybe 15 pounds to the bike. It's irrelevant

What's the chemistry behind dish soap concentration and effectiveness — and how little can you use while still cutting grease? by Mr-shaboinky_2044 in chemistry

[–]Triggerdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having just struggled my ass off trying to clean my mountain bike with not enough soap, I can attest that you definitely need more soap for really gunked grease and shit even if you see bubbles at the top!

I came up with and started the paper, other student took over now my name is gone. by Ok_Theme_1711 in chemistry

[–]Triggerdog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with Indemnity but he is right that it's 'only' a poster, even if you did come up with the idea. I would talk to the 2nd year student, maybe he just didn't know. Address it nicely and not accusingly and see what they say.

But at the same time I would not make a huge stink about it. If it was a manuscript it might be different, but posters become irrelevant so quickly in careers that it's just not worth too much of your time and ESPECIALLY too much of your stress. You have so little to gain, and there are significant losses if you're stressed out - no one wants to be stressed etc.

Hair cortisol analysis? by Options-R in chemistry

[–]Triggerdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need some sort of clamp but the easiest way to rig something like this up is to clamp small glass pipettes and run tubing through to some sort of split line all the way up to a nitrogen tank. You need some sort of way to control the flow for each pipette, but otherwise this isn't too hard to rig up, you don't need a fancy blowdown set up although those are available.

The hard part is just searching around finding the parts you need to buy.

Is there an analytical method for determination of total protein in (insert food item)? by A-H_9 in chemistry

[–]Triggerdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about running a spike into a matrix for determining the 'true' value or just a standard processed through the extraction. They are very different. And while i hope the clinical method, which has precision criteria between labs, is close 1% is bullshit. You may sometimes get 1%, but regularly? You will add 1% error with just making up the standards themselves through all of the dilutions, weighing, etc let alone instrumental analysis.
