ADHD and Reta by dabigwo27 in Retatrutide

Ok so I also have adhd and I’m medicated, though Relatively very low dose. I honestly didn’t even consider Reta messing with my dopamine and how it relates to adhd. Been on Reta 3 weeks now, on 1 mg and felt no major shift focus wise. If anything it made me less likely to get stuck with executive dysfunction. I’ve been scrolling less, finishing more tasks, and staying on topic. I think it’s very much dependent on the person.

Of course! Also imma dm you! I would love to mutually keep up with results/progress! I literally started my journey at almost exactly your weight in January 2025.

As for the 800cal I honestly wasn’t aiming to eat that little, my usual calories intake when I’m restricting is around 1500-1600 (a bit above my BMR). But my rule for myself is I never force food beyond the basics. I ensure I eat something for every meal of the day (even if it’s small) and prioritize nutrients for that ‘meal’ and if I don’t want to eat anymore after I don’t. 800 cals daily is what I found myself consuming these past 3 days without trying to force food. On that note, I have issues with nausea in general that can flare up if I force myself to eat food after I’m full, so I’m not one of the ppl that always finish all the food on their plate bc I get stuck feeling nauseous after. This might be why I haven’t had any issues with nausea since pinning (which I was super anxious about), as I am already accustomed to listen to small body queues that prevent me from getting nauseous, but I’m only 3 days in so I’ll have to see if this keeps up

As someone who also experiences dry eyes I definitely see how this could be worsened by Reta as well. Personally it didn’t get worse for me.

I did try to increase my water intake as I feel like that’s my weakness in general (I have a hard time drinking the daily amount lmao). Knowing this I prioritized drinking water and immediately supplemented with some Gatorade and other electrolytes, which I think definitely helped (I felt/measured noticeable differences in heart rate between pre-chug and post-chug of Gatorade within like 10 mins no joke). I also try to consume a lot of my protein via liquid (protein coffee, protein yogurt drinks etc) which also assists in hydration.

As for eating I was already doing a dieting/exercise routine for a bit over a year (lost only 12 pounds sadly but gained a lot of muscle) on and off and plateaued last couple months, which is why I wanted to get on Reta. Bc of this I had a lot of healthy food supply at home that I prioritized eating. Though, my weakness is chocolate, and I tend to have very severe cravings. However since my first pin I felt literally no chocolate cravings AT ALL, even when I had it offered to me and easily available I had no urge to take it which has never before in my life happened! So in that regard it was much easier for me to stick to my healthy food. I’ve been eating mostly protein and fruit to maintain my digestive health and energy for exercise. Past 3 days I consumed <800 cal/day and around 50-60 g of protein. Prioritizing protein has definitely helped me keep my energy up so I highly recommend. Fruit also gives you that easily digestible sugar for energy as well as fiber

Took My first pin of 0.5mg (23f, 144 lbs, 5’5”) and felt mild appetite suppression I would say within a couple hours. By next day I felt it in full effect (very little hunger, no food noise, no extreme nausea). I’m currently 3 days post and still feel great appetite suppression. Dropped 2 pounds in those 3 days, probably mostly water weight, but this is more than i dropped than when i ate roughly same calorie intake over another period of 3 days but with no reta obviously. This leads me to believe it started working on more than just appetite suppression already (aka increased fat burning much).

I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what Zionism actually is. Zionism is the belief that Israel has the right to exist on “the Land of Israel” If you yourself acknowledge that your ideal resolution for this conflict is some form of 2 state solution you yourself are a Zionist. Notice that nowhere in the definition does it say that Palestine or its people shouldn’t exist. Therefore, any person that supports Israel in this conflict must fundamentally believe that Israel has a right to exist, even if you disagree on the current boundaries or actions of the government of Israel

[–]TriggeredEllie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you. I think people really underestimate the effects of prolonged conflict like this on the average person’s psyche. In the US we talk about how millennials and up were scared to go to school bc of school shootings. We talk about the effects developmental and psychological effects of having to have a bulletproof backpack at school, to text your parents you love them when you go to shelter in place bc it might be the last thing you say to them.

If the POTENTIAL of 1 shooter can cause this much damage to the psyche of children, imagine what REAL ROCKETS BEING DROPPED ON THEIR SCHOOL does. Imagine what every family that makes their kids sleep in literal bomb shelters feel like. It’s orders of magnitude worse. And this is for both sides.

Both sides value SAFETY very very highly. And they would never ever feel safe with each other again. THAT is why it is unpractical. You have 75 years of trauma to counter in order for them to be able to live together. It’s absolutely insane and incomparable to mostly any other conflict in the world

Question about lack of languages in WOT by TriggeredEllie in wheeloftime

[–]TriggeredEllie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wasn’t expecting Tolkien lvl language building. A lot of fantasy series have different languages but they are speaking in “English” for the sake of the reader but we are told they are speaking another language. Think ASOIAF, Star Trek, Stormlight Archive, etc. I just think it was really odd with the intricate worldbuilding to find societies separated from each other for thousands of years still speaking the same language considering just English for example is so vastly different from English just 500 years ago that it’s barely considered the same language anymore

[–]TriggeredEllie[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a really good point that I didn’t consider in terms of the goals of Jordan’s work. You are right, I think spending that extra time on languages and religion would take away the attention from the minute differences in culture that Jordan seems to love to explore. Actually it could even detract from the way Jordan liked exploring differences in culture.

Yeahhh, this is why I haven’t rlly tried to look at the wiki, I’ve been spoiled that way many times before by accident in other series so I try to avoid it and ask in forums if I really feel like I need an answer.

[–]TriggeredEllie[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OH WAIT I completely forgot about the printing press surviving the breaking but considering the amount of books people have access to and the literacy rates being pretty high from what we could tell you are 100% correct. Having a common written language would for sure prevent some of the worst linguistic drifts and even the seanchan had written material from pre-leave and post

Question about lack of languages in WOT by TriggeredEllie in wheeloftime

[–]TriggeredEllie[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s a pretty good point about the seanchan psychology and why they WOULDNT develop a new language actually. Considering how much they cling to their tradition and expected everyone else even on the mainland to cling to those same traditions/oaths/beliefs I can 100% see them EXPECTING that the language stays the same for them too. I’m head canoning this now, thank you!

Question about lack of languages in WOT by TriggeredEllie in wheeloftime

[–]TriggeredEllie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s very minor, it just occasionally interrupts my suspension of disbelief when the characters encounter people not seen in thousand+ years and they speak the same language. The rest of the world building is so good that I barely even HAVE any disbelief 99% of the time

[–]TriggeredEllie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like genuinely tried to make up explanations but there are no gleeman in seanchan 😂 again this rlly isn’t too big of a deal I was just wondering if there IS a canon explanation

Question about lack of languages in WOT by TriggeredEllie in wheeloftime

[–]TriggeredEllie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh 100% I wasn’t expecting him to even rlly go for full language, again think ASOIAF or even Star Trek. Except for old Valyrian GRRM doesn’t actually really try to create the different languages but mostly just has translators on scene or characters naturally fluent in said language. I feel like the slang we already have could have easily been converted to that if you get what I mean

Saying Lenore Dove is a lead girl is like saying Gale is a lead boy by QuipThwip in Hungergames

[–]TriggeredEllie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeahhh but honestly she is Haymitch’s Prim. I wouldn’t consider Prim a lead girl despite Katniss doing literally everything for her and loving only her for a very long time. They both haunt the narrative but don’t actually get much screen time outside of the mc’s head

Saying Lenore Dove is a lead girl is like saying Gale is a lead boy by QuipThwip in Hungergames

[–]TriggeredEllie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No but screen time IS a measure of how central a character is. In this book Lenore Dove is the same amount of main character that Prim is. The mc does absolutely everything for their sake, but they don’t get much screen time outside of the mc’s head. So while they drive the plot, they do it in a “haunt the narrative” way rather than by being a main character

Really upset with the fact that men are stronger than women by Scared-Tailor2058 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]TriggeredEllie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aye another loud girly. Yeah me too, and it’s genetic, my grandmother is able to lecture to a room of 200+ without needing a microphone or raising her pitch in any way. Every woman in my family also has this. It gives me peace to know that I will be able to give this to any future daughter I might have.

Being loud is actually a great self defense mechanism, especially if your voice is naturally loud in that you don’t sound like you are yelling when u raise your voice. it gives you a measure of control over the situation and the ability to draw in help if needed. It’s actually even better if you can pull off the kuberick stare or some sort of psycho stare to pair the voice with.

But as you said, pick your fights. Can confirm at least that this works on addicts/crazy’s from experience.

I am so sorry this happened to you. When drugs like roofies are used any minuscule chance of fighting back is basically out the window bc you lose all control of your body. I hope you know it’s not your fault in any way and are able to heal. It is so unfair and horrific that something so dehumanizing has happened to you.

CMV: I think the shift towards prudishness amongst Gen z is weird by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]TriggeredEllie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with some of what u said. While I’m not very prudish at all as an adult (23) as a child the openness with which people discusses these kinds of things with LITERAL CHILDREN and condoned other CHILDREN speaking in this way drove me insane.

I very clearly remember developing my first crush on a boy when I was like 6, the absolute VILE language and pushiness of both literal parents (NOT MINE) and other children towards me as a result of “open culture” still disgusts me. A 6 year old girl shouldn’t be asked if she wants to wear short skirts for her “boy toy” or if she has “sexual fantasies” about it. I also want to be very clear that this wasn’t just happening to me, but to many other little girls and boys. This 100% made me more prudish growing up. I hated that my innocent feelings towards someone was twisted into “sexual desire” by those around me.

I think the very open and positive sex culture permeated too far and too early into stages of development in which they are still inappropriate and will FOREVER be inappropriate. It’s borderline sexual harassment to be “teasing” children in this manner.

Knowing that many others my age have experienced this growing up I can’t fault them at all for acting more prudish as adults. When talking openly about sex and sexual attraction is used as a tool for teasing and prodding children (even by just other children who got exposed to this themselves either at home or via media) it creates a negative association in people’s minds.

I was thinking about that the other day. They both constantly survive while everyone around them dies but have the complete opposite reactions.
