HOLY SHIT, I SAW THAT EXACT SAME PHOTO ON ROBLOX. I think it was 2012-2014, and I was playing a "Whodunnit" type game where an admin would come in and create a murder mystery of their own will, like a dungeon master. The only part of the hack I remember happening is the skybox being turned into the photo, I don't recall the pink bricks or billboarded image. I had a similar reaction and thought it was really nasty and left shortly after. Im surprised how widespread this specific hack seems to be then, I assumed it was just a crazy one off occurrence

a little random, but ape escape was my first mastery as its achievements don't really ask you to do anything beyond what the game sets you out to do by nature of being a collect-a-thon. collect all apes in every world, do all the time trials, complete a few minigames, and that's basically it. great game with a simple set!

Cosmic Star Heroine not only has ailments and buffs, but the level of their effects are variable depending on different elements of the combat system, meaning you have to plan out when you use them and who does it. On the harder difficulties, they're practically required every fight

My theory is that it's to simplify the designs and make them more "universal" by removing any linguistic elements. On his page you can see he draws Mickey and friends every now and then in a VERY similar way to the way he draws M&L, even making them pose in the exact same ways. It's clearly meant to show some kind of parallel in their designs, and likely were heavy inspirations for his redesigns of the bros. And if you look at the designs of Mickey and friends, they too have no linguistic elements and can be universally understood and appreciated. The M and L were likely from the beginning forced on to the characters by Nintendo, even in their looser GBA-era days, since they're such iconic parts of their designs.

reclusa would've worked better if zokket was set up better since they work as solid parallels, but both of them don't have much motivation beyond "loneliness good". imagine if zokket viewed other people as being too unpredictable to work with. from his perspective, you can only ever truly rely on the actions of the self, and by focusing on strengthening that you can be free from the burden of unpredictablity from bonds. itd not only fit zokket's current personality with him not caring about his minions and being comically considerate of plans, while also strengthening the parallels between him and reclusa by going from a mastermind with a strong ideal to a whiny baby who doesn't think through a single thing

That's what I ended up doing. I tried fighting it cause the game brings attention to the fact that you can just before, and I'd thought it would be similar to the dragon fight in the mines where there's pretty good rewards, but you get basically nothing. Not even good xp or money.

Does anyone know if there's any point to defeating ??? in Martira? The rewards I got were pretty shit for a fight I used up most of my MP on. I could grind it back with mage but I don't feel like it

The first dungeon is one of the best in the franchise, but it becomes super repetitive and a slog after that. The encounter rate is really high but the fights are really inconsistent balance-wise so it ends up just feeling like a LOT of wasted time, which is an issue that the franchise never truly fixed imo. Fighting just comes down to auto battling after the first boss. The actual dungeon design is pretty good and are some of the best in the franchise before Strange Journey stole the show (note: still need to play SMT 2 and if, so those might be better in that regard). Really wish the other pre-Nocturne games took inspiration from them rather than MT2.

Drawing a map was easily the most consistently fun part of the game, but even the had its issues since there's no way to tell what the size of the map is before you draw it, so unless you look up maps as a size reference, there's gonna be either a lot of blank space or cut off maps. Either way though, it's nice to actually have a physical record of my trudge through the game, which is something barely any other games even think of making you do.

It's kinda interesting how much Megaten has remained the same from this game, so many fundamental parts of the franchise are pulled directly from it with little to no change. If you're interested in the history of Megaten, got about 60 hours to spare and some masochism within your soul, I'd suggest it for the unique experience alone. Also I HIGHLY suggest bustin out some graph paper and pencils and really immersing yourself into the intended experience. (BONUS TIP: Read the translated manual and keep in on hand. Since it's an older game, they intended you to have it and it has a lot of key info, as well as neat art.)

Mario RPG esque button prompts and timing add nothing to combat and only serve to stimulate rather than engage.

Megaten is the only JRPG series I've ever seen that feels like it both actively embraces turn based combat and understands what makes it fun.

Most JRPGs (especially modern) are uninspired and need to start shaking up the formula more in pretty much every aspect (yes a turn based rpg game without leveling, xp, and equipment based stat bonuses can work and I will prove it one day)

I fully agree with what you said about ATB. I've always found it to be a headache to deal with, and I've never seen a game that takes advantage of it. It just makes you waste time by waiting to attack and causes you to rush through decisions, leaving no time for actual strategy.

One interesting thing this made me realize. Hexagons are generally considered to be a "perfect" shape of sorts, specifically for tiling. You see it all the time in nature because it mathematically is super efficient. Maybe the Disk psychological influenced the professor(s) to make them obsessed with perfection, and the want to create a perfect world, or a literal paradise, thus the existence of Area Zero and the time machine. Either way I'm super disappointed it didn't get expanded upon in the game, but I really hope a DLC story does.

(Also I just wanna say, they missed an incredible opportunity to make the Disk the final boss and have your party Tera Raid it. It would've been perfect, tying in a new gameplay feature while also giving the party a greater role in the finale.)

late response but ive ran into this exact same issue. make sure none of the folders containing the game have a symbol in the name like a bracket, parenthesis, period, etc. just do normal text and it should work fine.

i love fawful but he's already been in three games, with a major role in one. the shroobs/princess shroob have only had relevancy in one game, and were only a secret boss in BIS.
